Haven't we already discussed the latest version of Frankenstein lipstick on the pig:

I totally love it. It's the only car for which I'd seriously consider trading my M3 street car. The body kit looks great, 21" wheels really fit it, suspension/pdcc looks very competent, and the manual transmission is icing. I can take the car anywhere - around-town commuting, long trips, the farm - and the manual trans will keep things interesting.

I'm hoping the CGTS follows the traditional Cayenne depreciation curve (read: steep) and I can pick one up on the used side after they've been out for a little bit.

I hate it. Looks too similar to my CTT.

What steep depreciation curve? Did I miss the memo?

IMHO, almost all modern Porsches (including the 9x6/9x7 Turbo) are on a steep depreciation curve due to uncontrolled overproduction (again the quest to sell 100K vehicles/year no matter what.....thanks Dr. W).

Carrera and Boxster prices are below 993 prices, the only ones fairly immune are the GT3RS and Carrera GT, perhaps the GT3 to a lesser extent and of course Cup cars hold their value well.

I drove the '08 Turbo and it was a blast. I sat in the GTS at the recent IAA in Frankfurt. Very nicely done. I think the only thing that could be done to make this a perfect vehicle would be an upgrade of the instrument cluster - S size but in color. I just don't care for that black/orange combo on the S cluster.
Other than that, the red just may be the prettiest red I've seen on a motor vehicle. A deep, rich and thick looking red. If I didn't already have a magnificent 2006 CTT, I would be all over the GTS. I believe a person really has to drive all of the 2008 models under different conditions to try out the upgrades before making ones mind up which to own. I can hardly wait to read the postings on the new Cayenne. By the way, I got to climb into the Transsyberia and that was really cool - one of the German Team drivers was there at the time. Now if Porsche puts the Transsyberia into some sort of production, hold on to your hats. That baby is about 800 -900 kilos lighter than a stock S and ready to roll just about anywhere. My kind of truck.

Let's not forget two more factors that have accelerated the depreciation curve on all Porsches: 1) the insane costs of repairs once the cars are off warranty and 2) the number of Porsches that are leased rather than purchased for long term enjoyment
So buy 'em cause you love 'em and drive them. As garage queens they make no sense whatsoever.

LTC - lighten up on my Queen of the Road.

Actually, I turned 60,000 km (37,313 miles) today on my CTT and she runs great. I really don't think maintaining or repairing any modern day Porsche or other well bred automobile for that matter, is inexpensive. So one must go with ones poison. I suppose I will experience the nose bleed effect if or when something goes wrong, but I will also know the joy I had getting to that point. I still believe in the slogan - There Is No Substitute !
