Default Tiptronic... sometimes starts in D2, sometimes D1

Is there any logic in the tiptronic selection of starting gear... or is it some kind of Cayenne gremlin? I've noticed that sometimes it starts in D2 - usually this is the case - and sometimes D1. It generally starts in D1 the first time I drive the car for the day. It does that a few times, then starts out in D2.

Is this normal behavior... or should I ask, is this normal beta behavior?

Any advice from those of you who may or may not have owned a beta would be appreciated.

When it's cold it starts out in 1st and stays there for a while to warm up the cats- otherwise it should only start out in 1st when you have Please Save Me turned off... I believe that's the same on the beta versions and the newer ones...

Now, now.....didn't you get the memo from PCNA......there IS no hesitation......it's all in your imagination.

It's been a while since we've had a good 'hesitation' discussion......

In my Beta... I never got to D1 unless the car sat for an extended period and it was cold... very cold.. until about 50K miles and I'm sure a software update then for no reason at all.. it would sometimes start in D1.. which to be kind.. was generally annoying as it usually wouldn't kick up to D2 soon enough as usually it got to a pretty high RPM. On my 06 Tit.S, only after sitting overnight will it start off in D1 and that is only if I pull out of the driveway pretty slowly.. the first stop sign is about .75 miles down the road and it doesn't go to D1 the rest of the day... even with hours of sitting at the office.

This is pretty consistent with the way my beta performs now. It only does it in the morning on the first start, and it only does it a couple of times.
