06' Cayenne V6 Thoughts?

06' Cayenne V6 Thoughts?
I am looking at an 06' Cayenne V6 with 22K miles and Nav. Thinking I can get it for around $36-38K. Its pretty clean but I can see the first thing its going to need is a better set of wheels and tires on it.
Looking for a little insight. From my brief research I see the Cayenne V6 doesn't get a lot of love on this forum. I assume its because of its lack of power? From what I have been told the 05' & 06's are a lot more reliable than the 04's were. This vehicle is going to be for my wife to drive so it doesn't need to be a rocket. I drove it today and it seemed kinda sluggish but no worse than my V6 Ford Explorer.
Any insight as to what to look for or avoid in a Cayenne would be grreatly appreciated. I am actively looking for a 05-06 Cayenne S but haven't had mush success finding one with Nav for under $40K in the South FL area.
Thanks

I was in the same situation for my wife and just purchased a 2005 V6, 23K miles, Nav, Parking Sensors, comfort leather, 18 inch S rims, new tires, sunroof, and tiptronic for $33.5. It is being shipped, so should be here in a week or so. I looked for over month and had to move on this one quickly before it was gone. The deals are out there yo just have to be patient. I missed several great deals because i just wasnt fast enough. My wife has been driving a lexus ES so she thought the V6s we had test driven had more than enough power. She actually thought it was fast. For me, the V8 or TT is the only way but for her, the v6 is fine.

For those of you with he factory Nav what is your opinion on it? Its seems VERY cumbersome to use. I have a little portable $300 Garmin that is so user friendly. I messed with the one today in the Cayenne and didn't care for that dial to spell thing, the touch screen on the Garmin seems like the way to go. Plus if I can get her to go without Nav I have found several 05' S's within the price range.

I just purchased (last week) a 2006 Cayenne V6 and driving the tiptronic in manual mode is a reasonably sporty experience. I paid $40K for it in Daytona, FL and it had 18K miles on it. The car has many options including NAV, XM, Panoramic Sunroof.
I had a fairly well-sorted 928 and I really enjoy the Cayenne a lot more. I don't think the NAV is a necessity and frankly haven't had any cause to use it.
If you can get a better deal without it, GO FOR IT!

My wife is being pretty headstrong about getting the NAV, even though last night I took her to a local dealer that had an 04' Cayenne S to show her how cumbersome the NAV is to use. I like the "look" of the NAV system in the dash but in all honesty I'd probably get her a little Garmin to use for navigation.
The whole S issue is more me than her for sure. She said she could care less if it has a V6 or V8 but I am trying to look at resale value down the line too. Probably won't matter much because the vehicle will be over 100K miles in 4 yrs anyway.
I found a "deal" yesterday while looking for Cayennes. I came across an 04' Cayenne Turbo with less than 20K miles for $40K. It had been in an accident and ther airbags had been deployed. Its been fixed and has a clean title. Seems like overkill for a vehicle for the wife to drive but the temptation is there. Who wouldn't buy an 04' TT for about the same price as a 06' V6 Cayenne? I've never been one to buy a vehicle that had been in an accident but the savings are significant on it. The old saying keeps popping in my head though "If it sounds too good to be true, then if probably is"

While it's nice to have the NAV built in, if you found the car that was right in every way but without NAV, buy the car and get a handheld. (that's my suggestion anyway- the NAV isn't that big of a deal to me)

You are having the same talk that I had too. My wife wanted the NAV because of the looks too. She did not care what other options were on the car other than NAV. She said she did not want the 80s looking small radio because it did not look good. I bet my wife never uses the navigation but if it makes her happy it keeps her in the car longer.

The pros and cons of the nav have been pretty well covered by the posts above. I just want to add that there's been a few instances where the nav went out at around 50K miles. If that were to happen after your warranty expires, it will be very expensive to replace ($4000, I believe). On the other hand, if you have the regular radio, you can easily replace it with the latest technology...MP3, IPod, and who knows what else will be invented in the future.
I bought my car new, and specifically told the salesman I don't want the nav.

you guys are paying too much?
I bought a 06-V6 new for 41k last April. So far it is a great car, it is also for my wife. It drives better than our old 3.0l X5, and it seems a tad quicker. Definitely for our use the V6 has enough power.
I guess there are enough 06 V6's left at dealers that you could get a new one for just a tad more, and you get the full coverage.
The dealership I bought from had 5 or 6 2006 V6's in April, and they wanted to get them out. The MSRP on ours was 52k. It does not have nav tho....or the
18" wheels.

Without having researched prices, $36-$38 strikes me as high. (Not sure if you are buying from a dealer, CPO etc. which is an important factor).
As a point of reference, dealer has told me that my '06 Cayenne 'S' has a trade in value in the very low 30's (with 43K miles). I know many people looking to trade in their trucks and they have been told by the dealers that there is an absolute glut of these cars on the market, and that there will be even more as they start to come off lease in higher numbers. I think the value of the V6 will be even that much more depressed.
