Cayenne Key Question
I just purchased a 04 Cayenne S with 17000 miles. I only got (1) key with it. I want a new key and found that it is $384.00 from the dealer. I know that the key must be programmed for the car but can I purchase a key off EBay and then have the dealer program it?

i bought a key on ebay for my A6 and it turned out to be different year, plus if you buy the key is about 40$, but when they program it, they charge 200$, it's still a deal but you may get the wrong one or they can say simply we can't program it, and after waiting for the key to arrive and paying for it you will be stuck. I learned that it's better for a lazy dealer just do everything from scratch. IMO

a cayenne key can be reprogramed but you will still need to get it cut. ALso most of the cayenne keys on ebay are probaly the old style that were replaced under warrenty.
there are also multiple part numbers for kessy/non kessy 06+ ect

I had the same problem, bought an 06 with one key. They charged me $290 CAN, for the key, and another $65 to program it. They had to order they key from Germany, as they said these keys are not cut here.

+1 Ofcourse you will also need to cut it, which will cost another 50-80$ which brings my calculations to about 300-310$ and it is 75$ short which is not that great of deal to go through all that. By the way there is a place i know who cuts all laser cut keys in Los Angeles. But you are in a different state. I would order it from stealer IMO. since you have one key, you can left stranded tomorrow or in an hour if you loose it. So you better guard it good.
