Today Porsche presented its first Hybrid Engine to the press. See this report (incl. pics), sorry, in German only:
http://www.swr.de/nachrichten/bw/-/i...ijf/index.html
Main summary:
- market entry in Cayenne and Panamera in 2009/2010
- 280 hp V 6 fuel engine plus 54 hp electric engine plus battery
- engineering cooperation with VW/Audi
- fuel consumption reduced from 12,9 l/100km to 8,9 l/100km
- highest speed with sole use of electric motor will be 120km/h
Porsche is thinking about introduction of start-stop-automatic to reduce fuel consumption on other models

So how about a rebadging now, with the transmission coming from the east, now the core of the engine from Toyota (not really a bad thing, it might work)
Toyota Cayenne
has a ring to it

Now that you're moving your digs to the left coast, please check to make sure that TDI engines will be sold in CA (one of the 'green' states).
My first choice would have been a TDI, but since I live in MA, diesels are not allowed to be sold (new) in passenger vehicles, only trucks (which the Excursion clearly was)......so the second choice was the Ford Hybrid Escape.

Only the "part time" occupation to the West Coast - still keeping the house here in Maryland - I'll be a little solo out West.
Got the S4 for Cali (and taking the 911 out there) - the Q7 would be for MD and latter for Colorado.
Q7 Diesel in California - with their tough anti-diesel smog stuff - even Blue-Tec may not be good enough.
