'08 CS just landed in San Diego
After driving 911's since 1975, and BMW coupes as a second driver, my wife decided that the 4Runner was junk and wanted something nicer (can't say I blame her, she works hard and deserves something she likes to drive). We looked at the new X5 and I kept hitting my head on the decklid with it in the full upright position. Liked the X5 other than that, never seriously considered a
Cayenne. Went across the street and looked at the new Cayenne and the rear deck lid was a great improvement over the first gen Cayenne. So, after driving
the new CS we placed an order. The salesman was falling all over us trying to get us to buy one of the last of the 06 cars... didn't make sense to me. Dropping 8k of the price didn't do it. He did offer 3 to 4K off the '08 so we ordered a black one with full tan leather and sport seats (not so sure about the sport seats, in fact, I've never seen a Cayenne with them...). It arrived in San Diego last Friday so we should see it this week. Photos when it comes in.
I hope she likes it, I'll drive it from time to time but I'm addicted to my C4S.
I'm just wondering about the direct fuel injection and the life of the injectors in that environment.... any thoughts?

Will do, just talked to the dealer and it's coming up to Monterey with a Cayenne Turbo- he said that will speed up the delivery because they want to
get the Turbo invoiced and out to the customer so they can get the funds
in the bank. Sometimes I think these dealerships work on a slim margin and some months are not as good as others. They need to move cars. Good for me because it gets mine up here faster.
Photos and more info as soon as it arrives.

Well, the Cayenne arrived at the port in San Diego 10 days ago and nobody
know where it is. The computer says it has not gone through pre-delivery inspection yet. Other cars that arrived at the same time have been delivered
to the local dealership and sold. I'm not sure what's going on. Are they
that un-organized? Is there a problem with the car? Nobody has any idea
and the car is missing in action.
Will keep you informed. I asked the salesman what happens when a car arrives damaged, he said they used to deliver all damaged cars to a local dealership for repairs but that dealer eventually said that was not something they wanted to do so the cars are all now delivered to the dealer who ordered them for repairs. I have no idea if there is anything wrong with the car but I thought I'd ask what the procedure was. We'll see....
Update, they just found the car. They are putting it on a transport today.
How do you lose a Cayenne? Oh well, no big deal, it's on it's way. Photos
later in the week.

Well, finally got the CS this weekend, it's a great driver, comfortable, sport
seats are great but not really sport seats, just an improvement over the
standard seats, IMHO.
I want to report 19 trouble free miles! Using very little oil, have no clue what
all the buttons are on the damn radio, the paint is holding up very well and
I hope to never see the inside of a dealership again until the first service
interval. Anybody changed their own oil on these things? Is it something
that can be done with just jack stands, oil filter wrench and some oil/filter?
Photos soon.

Well, racked up another few miles on the new Cayenne. Took off Saturday morning for the Bay area, slipped in a new CD for the road and listened to it....for about 5 minutes. Then realized that the radio function lights were all on but no sound was coming out. Not knowing what kind of electronic gremlin
I was facing, I headed back home (only about 10 miles) and started searching for the cause. Found the fuse for the amplifier and pulled it out, no problem with the fuse. As soon as I replaced it in the panel, everything worked again and has been fine since. Who knows.... hopefully thats the last of that problem.
Great driver on the cruise, great power (considering it weights more than a Sherman tank) and decent gas mileage (if you are a shareholder with Exxon).
All in all, I'm enjoying the Cayenne. I'm not sure about the sport seats yet,
will decide on the merit of ordering those in a few weeks. Never had a chance
to try them out as no Cayennes at this dealership ever seem to get ordered with that option....

If you do a search of the forum for no audio, you'll find out.....the truth is out there.

Larry was a brilliant engineer, yet perversely vicious.

As a Cayenne owner, you are automatically assured of priority seating in He!!, in the "Larry VIP" section. Of course in He!!, all the seats are middle seats.
Enjoy your Cayenne.......Larry will be waiting.

Speaking of He!!, my heated seats seem to have two modes, slightly warm
or hot as where Larry's looking down laughing at me. Anybody else experienced this? If you turn them on the lowest setting, they seem to turn off
whenever the car thinks you are warm enough. The highest setting puts a nice crease in your pants in case you forgot to iron them. Is there no middle ground
or is this just my car? Also, can you only get the steering wheel to warm up when the outside temps are freezing or is there a way to get it to warm up
when you'd actually like it to warm up. So far, my wife is not happy with
a lot of the features of the car, of course, her main criteria is a butt warmer
and heated steering wheel.
The stereo has worked for several days now. Good.
All in all, I like driving the car, the sport feature is great but I have a feeling
it does little for my gas mileage......

You're in Carmel, CA......what in the he!! do you need with heated seats and steering wheel?
Where do you think you are? Boston in the winter?
The steering wheel heat operation has been discussed previously, but this is the first time I recall hearing your description of the heated seat control issues.
A quick call to the dealer (or a scan thru the owner's manual......before someone replies with a .......we're kind of 'touchy' about that one....right MadFox?) should resolve that question.
