Default Poor XM reception

The trees have filled in here in New England, and i have all but lost my XM reception. I have other vehicles that have XM and have almost no issues.

Is there a way to improve the attenna? Where is it located? Could it be the radio - I have the Nav setup

Is this a recent issue? XM had a satellite malfunction yesterday. Could be a little bit to get it back on. This as they need to change orbit and then reset orbit to fix the software.

BTW, the antennae are all located under the rear spoiler (cover).

XM sent me a couple emails explaining the trouble- Mine wasn't working worth a crap either yesterday and I too thought it was the trees, etc but it was never that bad before... supposedly fixed now...

The trees in my driveway makes XM cut in and out, also if you are in a thick a forest. The Sirius in my Jeep is a lot worse though. I've always thought XM had better reception. I wonder what it is going to be like when they both merge?

XM is a factory option, not aftermarket. Any antenna issues ought to be covered under warranty.

Porsche

XM this year became the exclusive satellite radio option for Porsche Cars of North America, Inc., with a complimentary three-month subscription. XM has been available as the factory-installed radio feature for Cayenne models since 2005, but the deal extends the option to most of the remaining Porsche lineup. XM will also develop satellite-delivered data services for Porsche vehicles, expected to include XM NavTraffic.

I know, I wa just saying that they are both aftermarket companies.
Antenna issues would be covered under warrenty but 99.9% theres nothing wrong with it and its a xm problem and not a porsche problem

Bullsh!t.

Suboptimal (being generous) antenna placement, lack of ground/reference plane (I'll ignore the water under the spoiler for now and its effect), lowest cost SAT antenna, lack of preamplifier coupled with long cable routing, suboptimal cabling.
But of course, since there is no parametric data contained in the owner's manual outlining performance, from the PCNA/PAG perspective, there's nothing wrong.

It IS a Porsche problem......at least that's what Larry thinks.

To be totally fair, I've never experienced any antenna/interference/signal problems in 2000 miles with an XM Cayenne and a couple hundred miles in a Sirius Cayenne. Both driven in rural and urban settings, never any problems. The XM Cayenne actually had much better reception in the same places than my old XM Audi.

My Sirius BMW is totally awful, though. Drops signal at least once per trip, no matter urban or rural.
