If so, can the JL Audio sub run with the existing system power or do I need an amp as well. Thanks all!

JL makes GREAT stuff as I have it my by boat and house. The Gotham Sub for hometheater is without question the BEST sub ever produced (and I'm a HT nut). If you want to literally rock the foundation of your home check it out!

I added a 11" K2 Focal Sub and replaced the front set with Focal Utopia No 7 set
We took the signal from the Bose magic box with a Audio Control LCR8...I then sent it to a Rockford Fosgate 360.2 for DSP control of delay and tone control. Used JL amps...sounds great...also had a Bluetooth systems fitted where the ashtray was...uses a RF remote control to control...
The single 11" is plenty of bass and the Utopia Be front end and K2s in the back for fill sound awesome...disabled the center speaker and use it for the bluetooth phone. Here are some pics during the process can put up more of the finished product later
