Default New to Pepper...couple questions...

Hey all...I am new to Pepper (I have a 964)...I have a couple of quick questions:

...my old man is looking at getting a new '06 Pepper loaded Tit-S and trading his X5. He said Dealer would take 10k off of an '06 (today only, month end, blah blah) and that it would be prudent to also get a set of All-season tires or at least a set of Snow tires and wheels 1500-1800...

1) Will dealer still offer 10k off if he doesnt buy today? is it a factory disc? etc

2) from my brief perusing of the pepper site of rennlist seems the 8 cyl Tit-S is the way to go (outside of turbo)...what could he expect to pay or get off of sticker??

3) what is the story bout the tires? dealer said it comes with hi-perf tires and since the old man is in jersey they recommend swap out for all-seasons or get spare set of winter tires/wheels...cost would be 1500-1800 or so....the old man feels if you r buying a vehicle it should have the proper tires etc...i told him winter tires would be the way to go??....any thoughts??

thanks again for the help

To be honest, the 10K offer will not be available after today. It will be MORE than 10K off tomorrow! Honestly, the discount are greater than 10K right now. Remember, the 2008 Cayenne will be in showrooms in 30 days making that 2006 2 years old.

Exactly!

I would wait a couple more months honestly, they will give a bigger discount on the Tit.S edition by then.

Great choice by the way

I think there must be at lesst 45 or 50 Tit.S in my state forsale Plus maybe 20 Turbo S just sitting here.

Be patient

With few exceptions you need snow tires. I've heard of a couple people having CONTI's (?) that were able to drive in the snow, but this is the exception. Back in 2004, I tried driving in the snow with Bridgestone Turanza's (stock for 18" turbo wheels) -- BAD idea. Like riding on ice skates. I got a set of snow tires and rims from tirerack.com (18") for my 2004 CTT for about $1200 delivered. They are not as nice as the porsche rims -- If I could have gotten porsche rims and tires for $1500, I would have taken them. The Tis.S are great looking -- prettier than my CTT (in my opinion) -- but I do love the extra HP! Like the other guys said, wait a little longer for a bigger discount (once the 2008 models arrive). Also, I recommend the air suspension. Good luck.

1&2) $10k off seems to be the market price. When you say loaded, what is the msrp on the vehicle? They start from mid $60s and goes all the way up to mid $70s and I've seen one just over $80 I would definitely try $12k off or more if this one is on the higher side.

3) Mine came with Conti summer tires and they do not recommend it for snow driving, said so on the msrp. And I think all titanium edition comes with summer tires (Conti, Michelin, or Pirelli). No idea what kind of wheels & tires combo your dealer is offering but I plan on putting some Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow tires (same size on the original wheels) when my Conti wear out. Based on the review I read on tire rack, they should be fine for all year round. And it is only $200 a piece.

Which dealership is offering 10k off in Houston? I am trying to purschase one in San Antonio and all they want to take off is around 4K. Anybody know which dealership in central or south Texas is offering the better deals?

If you get the 2nd set of tires they will each last twice as long (more or less)... So you're just paying now rather than later when a 4-season tire will wear out. Right?

Soft compound ice & snow tires will wear faster on dry pavement, and handle less well, than summer compound performance tires. Summer tires will wear longer and handle better, but are a definite hazard in snow or ice. Do NOT try to use the stock Pirelli or Michelin summer tires on snow/ice. There are only 2 possible outcomes: you will be very lucky or very sorry.

All-season tires are a compromise on all fronts. If you are never going to push your truck to anything near its design limits on dry pavement and you are never going to drive it in more than trivial snow, all-seasons are the most convenient and economical way to go. Otherwise, as with all performance vehicles, if you're not going to park it in the winter, you're better off with separate summer and winter tires.

This comment is right on the money. Find one that has a sticker of $71K or so, and offer them $60K. I'd be very surprised if they don't sell it. The dealership in my area offer $10k off on all of them without any negotiation.

There are always plenty of Cayenne take-offs for sale here. If you're debating on the wheel set you may opt for Ebay or this site for much less expensive, OEM merchanside. They don't really have to be brand new as they are snow tires....

I would hold out for the 'Buy One, Get One Free' special.
