changint the oil early isnt a problem, you should change your oil more then 20k miles, id say 10k at most or once a year on 3500 mile 2004 it should have probaly been changed twice in 05 and in 06

In my CTT, I am continuously changing the bloody oil. Car drinks a quart ever 500-600 miles. No oil leaks, nothing. Going in for an early 40k service, will have them look AGAIN for any issues. Easily my #1 bitch about the car. Nice car with a permanent crate of oil in the boot! They should make a $200 Techquipment oil bottle holder....

Porsche's current position is now "one quart per 600 miles is normal/acceptable".....this is down a bit from the 1qt/1000 miles.
Unless you can show that the high oil consumption is causing you to fail emissions, clog a cat, etc......there is no way they will address the issue (rings)

My dealer demanded our oil be changed after a year, we only had 4k on the car at the time and change it at similar time and mileage every year.
Our CTT uses a qt. every 2500 to 3000 miles.
I do change my own oil in the car, not necessarly because of cost, I do an oil analysis every year. Kind of my insurance for the car and just to see what's up.
This year there was about 1/2 gallon of coolant added with no leaks found, so I did an oil test to clarify, all was well with 0 water or antifreeze in the oil
Yetis, I would of said to leave the oil in longer and see if it helps seat the rings better, but........considering you add 1qt. every 500 to 600 you are basically replenishing the oil so that would be no good.
If the dealer does not find anything wrong which Lewis has explaing with the 1qt per 600miles, ask to see if you can use a different oil, heavier.
My neighbor had the same problem on his 03 TT, mech told him to use dino 5w-30 for 3000 miles and drive spirited. He is back on Mobil 1 0-40 and uses about 1 qt. per 6000 miles. He has 80,000 miles on the truck.
