Default Moisture in Headlamps

Hi gang. I have recently acquired an '04 CS, and have been having a problem with moisture on the inside surfaces of both headlamp lenses. It dries out sometimes, and will dry out with use of the lights, but it seems to come back easily. It degrades the effectiveness of he lights, of course.

Is this a common problem? I am sort of prepared to hear that a seal is broken somewhere (x2) and I need to replace both assemblies. Tell me I'm wrong!!!

Please ask your dealer to verify that the latest TSB (the one that came after the 'stuff it wtih a silica gel bag after it comes off the boat) regarding headlight ventilation has been performed on your vehicle.

Yes, there was a technical service bulletin (TSB) on this problem. A very common problem with the 2004 and 2003 models. A quick trip to the delership and having them perform the fix suggested in the TSB will cure your problem.

Thanks guys.

I guess I should probably research the applicable TSBs for that vehicle just as a heads up. (for the next issue)

Are you suggesting that Peter the Great, who actually came to Porsche Parade 2006 to speak with the great unwashed masses of VAG/PAG owners, does NOT have our best interests in mind at ALL times?

Are you suggesting that it's just about the MONEY? Is it just profits over people?

Are you suggesting that there is some sort of personal satisfaction when you DO get Peter the Great to have to write out a big check to a (former) customer

Lack of ventilation.

Assuming the headlight ventilation TSB has been done (and no, that isn't the silica gel bags stuffed in there), then you may have a hose that has come off/loose. Just ask your dealer which TSB had been done and check the hoses.

They pulled a page out of the 'old air cooled Porsche days' from the 964 ventilating the rear lenses to help fix the headlight fogging in the Pig....I mean Cayenne....sorry, I think I took the wrong color pill this morning.

Thanks Itc, I noticed that there were two TSBs out there that have application to this - both the bags (an possible cover replacement) and the ventilation. I doubt it's a hose, since I have it uniformly on each side.

I have an appt this week to have the dealer take care of it and we'll see what they say.

If you have both prophylactics and you're still fogging up the headlamps, then you may have a defective headlight assembly seal.
Hopefully you're not naked.....

cars out there with out service actions and recalls are out there becasue people dont bring them to the dealer, every time the dealer enters a vin number into their compurer for service it lists open service actions and recalls,
porsche will not pay the dealer for any repairs if all open recalls are not performed.

tsbs do not apply to every vechile for a given model or model year, they are just information to be used for a given complaint

"in the event of xxxxxxxxx perform xxxxxxxxxx"

In my case ('04) the fix was the "ventilation kit". Or at least that's what they did. We'll see if that does the trick.
