Default Would this void the warranty?

Hello All,
I installed the Vertex HID kit, complete w/balasts on my '04 S. To do this I had to drill through the back of the headlight backing plate. No other real mods were required. I have two bits of service that need to be taken care of and I want to make sure that the warranty will be in tact.

The first is that the driver side headlight needs to be lowered and the aiming adjustment screw doesn't seem to move the beam. I tried the passenger side and it worked fine.

The second is that the original front turn indicator bulb on the passenger side blew last week and I replaced it with a Pepboys equivalent. That bulb lasted about a week and is also now blown. Hoping just a bad bulb but if not, it may be one of those nasty gremlins that the dealer will have to track down.

Did the HID install void the warranty for the headlights? Anyone have a spare set of original back plates that we can trade for a while so that I can take the headlights back to stock for the repairs?

Thanks.

You may have a problem with the holes in back caps you may not depending on how big they are they may not notice.

Your turn signal if you take out the bulb holder bend the tabs out and clean the conatcs your bulb will come back to life

Thanks. I'll try the bulb holder trick.

Technically (and legally), yes.
Now, whether or not your dealer makes a big deal out of it is up to them. PCNA will not pay them for warranty repair IF they find out the car was modified and/or a modified part is returned to PCNA (and onto PAG) for inspection.

I'm curious how the Cayenne's in vehicle bulb diagnostics will react to the change/mod going from Halogen to Xenon.

The Xenon kit has worked flawlessly. A huge improvement with no issues whatsoever. The only issue is the aiming and the adjustment which is a headlight issue, nothing to do with the Xenon install.

The only modification that you have to do is to drill the backingplates to allow for the ballast wires to run into the headlight so if I get new backingplates I can take them back to stock just by reusing the original bulbs. I think that will be the route to take.

Usually Vertex sends new plates with their kit. They sent me 996 plates but those didn't fit. I returned them for Cayenne plates but they have been backordered. I may just call other dealerships to see if they have any in stock.

your blown bulbs might be that you touch the bulbs with your bare hands which leads to premature death.

I thought that was only for the high temp headlight bulbs, not the secondary bulbs. From what I understand is that the oils from your hands causes hotspots on the bulb if they are on for extended periods of time and can blow the bulb. A turn indicator wouldn't be subject to that type of heat. Am I mistaken? Either way, I'll clean the next one w/alcohol just to be sure....
