Quote: Reliability and "bugs" being worked out. It is WELL documented that there is a big difference between the 03/04 and the 05/06.
Unclear with what you are saying.

PRIOR to bugs being and reliability issues worked out of older 03'04 MY Cayennes there is a BIG difference between the 05/06 MY or

Even AFTER all the bugs and reliabilty issues (http://www.lemonauto.com/complaints/porsche/cayenne.htm) have been worked out there is still a BIG difference between them?

If the later, then I must disagree and say this is falsehood. Same cracked coil issues in 05/06, all the same mechanical issues in general come up (as per my service department and Cayenne forums). Some Cayennes NEVER have any mechanical issues, whether they be MY '03, '04, '05, or '06. And there are others that are plagued with issues regardless of the MY.

I have driven the '06 turbo and TurboS. The only difference is in the NAV system CD vs. DVD. and back-up camera addition, and the option for a pano roof. Every other functionality is identical. Every other performance aspect is identical. (BTW my car is actually faster than the Turbo S after the additions and ECU upgrade that I have made).

So I hardly think this qualifies as a "BIG" difference. Other than DVD-NAV/PCM change and pano roof option, everything else is the same.

All TSB's performed, 2 electronic gremlins worked out since I have had my car and it has always peformed flawlessly.

Quote: Comment # 15 here explains what a soccer mobile is, from that you should easily conclude that a soccer mom is a woman that uses the car as a means to "tote around" her kids/dogs to & from school/soccer/any other sport practice. So, when you decide that you need an offspring or three, please make sure to go with a minivan to keep everyone here happy :-D
How did you know that PAG is designing a minivan?
Do you have any spy shots?
I have to get to my dealer ASAP and put down a deposit.

So what are you going to drive once you have kids? If it's a Cayenne, I would suggest not mentioning it up in here :-D

LTC, I'd think you'd be the first one to know about how soccer moms of the world have united in bombarind PAG with requests for a Porsche minivan? :-D

ITS, just to clarify, we didn't buy it. It was given to us as a loaner since my 997 was in the shop.

EnigaWmm, we currently have a minivan ;-)

My soccer mom qualifications are a little skewed here:

Kids = 4 yr old
Porsches = 2006 V-6, 2004 CS, 1970 911T

But, I'm probably going to turn in the '06 for a BMW 330xi. Quite honestly, it has been a letdown. Too many problems and no where near the performance as the CS. I don't need all the room of an SUV, just AWD.

Besides, I think I'm going to hold out for the Porsche minivan - maybe a Cayvan?

Have you test driven an S4 or RS4, rather than a 330xi?
IMHO, the Audi S4 Avant (wagon) is better balanced than the S4 (coupe). The Avant has a very generous amount of room and excellent road manners.

I haven't really thought about an Audi, to be honest. Probably because I don't see a whole lot of them up here. I don't like wagons at all, and don't require a lot of room, just AWD and a reasonable amount of performance. The drive to Reno I make 3-4 times a week is steep with sharp curves and a little tricky, especially in winter. I would probably wrap myself around a tree in a RS4.

Are the S4 AWD, or is that just the A-models?

S4 = Quattro AWD
Drive one, I'm pretty sure you'll prefer it to the 330xi.
I had an S4 and thoroughly enjoyed the car.

I agree the S4 Avant is a very nice car, better balanced than the coupe. Very fast and can easily be made faster. Just too small for my needs.

I appreciate the advice...I neglected to do the same type of research prior to purchasing the V-6. Our decision was made purely on the basis of the satisfaction we've experienced with the CS. In retrospect, I wish I would have probed a little further and discovered that the car is more VW than Porsche.

Oh well....live and learn, and avoid making the same mistake twice.

Whatever you have is fine with me. It's when your wife starts using the Cayenne instead of that minivan, it won't sit well with a few on these boards :-D

The new S6 Avant has been getting very good reviews. I've always preferred the 4 series to the 6 for some reason.
