Compass option is just a code?

Compass option is just a code?
Just looking at all the TSB's and I noticed that the compass can be turned on with a code! Wow, why could more options be like that????

I am trying to restrain myself, but there are some doosies in there. I think the #1 is the power kit upgrade. That or the sports trim! To think the phone was not the worst! I looked at the trailer hitch which is in my future and I got a little tense.

Funny what that option seems to do to people.
