Looks very similar to the Panamera set to debut in 2009. Just by its low-slung appearance, I can't imagine this rendition of the Cayenne would have the off-road and towing (sorry Lewis) capabilities of the current model. It looks interesting though--along with the Panamera and 997, it sure would provide a very coherent design across the Porsche line

The 'off road' capability is not used by many users, and neither is towing.
There have been discussions to drop the 'off road' capability (it will still have PASM, just not the ability to disconnect the sway bar, lock diff, etc).....not for weight, but for cost.
Towing actually costs very little to add and the basic vehicle can (mechanically) tow....although I've heard 'talk around the water bubbler' that there is a new, redesigned "1D6/1D8" tow control module in the works......hmmmn, wonder why they would consider 'fixing' that module......

Coherent design = reuse of parts = new chief designer for new models = cost savings = profits.
You will see the Panamera tail lights on the facelifted 997 (being used to work out the bugs associated with LED tail lights...if any), the electronics (infotainment, climate control, IP, PASM) and mechanics (engine, drivetrain and brakes) will be VERY common....re: almost identical....between the Panamera and '2010' Cayenne.
Oh wait, I'm not supposed to say this, it's supposed to be a big surprise....

Nothing.
I'm just a 12 year old boy with severe allergies who can't leave the house, so I made up my alter ego (ltc or larry) and this is how I spend my days.

Larry, what have you done..
Yes, I suppose this is the cynical take on "coherent design." At least there will be testing and implementation of a similar set of electronic features across the product line--maybe that will help clear out the bugs that nagged the early Cayennes. I know, the more cynical take on it is, maybe now every Porsche product will inherit electronic glitches and those "!!!s" we love so much(!)
