24 foot trailer too long/big?

Well if size does matter what is too long/big... I am looking at a used 24' enclosed v-nose Featherlight trailer. I was originally looking for an 18' or 20', but this one is a pretty good deal. I searched regarding trailers, but everybody seems to be towing something shorter. Is the 24' over kill a 993 C4S? Can I pull it safely with a Cayenne S?

Car & gear is say 3500lbs, GVWR of trailer is 7000 or 10000?
Cayenne tow rating is 7700lbs correct?
Use a weight distribution system (sway control optional - dual cam is the way to go there) and a good brake controller (Tekonsha Prodigy, Voyager, Sentinel, Husky Excursion) and not the cheapest POS.
I don't find much difference towing a 20 or 24. It's a few feet longer but you get used to that. The weight distribution system is key.

If she is your receptionist, I may have to come up and buy a trailer from you! I am more concerned about the cross wind factor as the trailer is going to be soooo much longer then my CS.

20 to 24 won't make that much difference. Get a sway control with your weight distribution system. We sell piles of the Reese Dual Cam sway control.

Is it 24' including the V or without? I have a 18' ATC V nose which is 22' total with the 4' nose which toes fine with my CS with PASM. 28' may be getting a little long but 24' total would probably be ok. I've heard you are not supposed to use a weight distribution hitch with the Cayenne though...
(as most regulars here know however, I do have the "lighting" issues...

Does the trailer have 2 3500# axles or 5000# axles??? That will be the deal breaker.
FYI....listen to Chris, he really knows what he is talking about. He just helped me IMMENSELY in ways I could never repay to help purchase mynew 20' Pace trailer. Without his input I would have probably pissed about alot of money and bought the wrong trailer for my needs. THANKS CHRIS!!!!

Hmmmm . . . air suspension huh? Is it auto load leveling?
My dad had a '98 Expedition with air suspension. That thing was a bit of a sloppy pig on the road. The air suspension was cool. Whenever I tow anything of size I use either a Ford F-350 Diesel or a GMC 2500HD Diesel. Otherwise I tow smaller stuff with my Pilot.
Perhaps a WD system interferes with the brain of the air suspension in the Cayenne. Makes some sense.
I just reread your initial post and didn't catch the V-nose part. V-nose trailers do tow easier because the trailer will experience less drag because of the V. This is also the reason Honda raises the tow rating for towing a boat compared to a traditional square trailer. V-nose trailers do have more tongue weight because of the structure on top of the a-frame of the trailer.
I think you have a couple of options. Hook it up and see what happens. Take it for a drive. If there is evidence of rear end squat and the air suspension isn't doing its job then WD is the way to go. If the air suspension is doing its job you can still put on a sway control if necessary. Either use a solid core drawbar and have the sway control mount welded on (friction plate sway control) or use a WD system head and shank w/o the bars. A sway control mount is already welded on.
The problem with friction plate sway controls is that they don't really like sharp turns. They snap. So take it off when you are turning sharply while backing up.
We used to have a 24' (20 + 4' V) V-nose trailer for company use. It towed quite well behind the Expedition and I never used a sway control or WD system.

I haul a 20 and don't think I would go bigger. There is a lot of sway (no sway control hitch) when passing semis.
That said, I typically tow around 75 mpg and it is very comfortable sans semi passing.

I pull a 24' ATC trailer behind my Cayenne Turbo. I have a WD hitch with sway control. In the trailer is a Cup car with spare wheels, gear box and other parts as well as tools for an estimated 6500 pounds total. I have not had any problems with this set up other than trying to keep my speed legal.

I wouldnt do it. I had a 20' Featherlite with V-nose and I did not like the way it towed behind the Cayenne. Way to much sway for me. Also - VERY IMPORTANT - the MAXIMUM tongue weight for the Cayenne is 615 pounds. This means for a properly balanced trailer, you will only be able to safely tow a 6,150 pound trailer (10% tongue weight is the typically accepted % of total trailer weight for a properly set up tow). I had my GT3 and spares and misc. items in my 20' and the total weight was about 7200 pounds. When I shifted the load in the trailer to have 615pounds on the tongue, it swayed too much for my comfort level.
I now use a enclosed Trailex. It is 1800 pounds empty and looks awesome. But it was pricey!
