That adaptor was listed in one of the previous posts however, it specifically states that it is for a trailer with LED lights....
I'm not willing to spend a couple of hundred converting 18 trailer lights to LED so they work with the Cayenne. My solution is simply to unplug 3 of the lights on the front roofline of the trailer and all is well.
It is interesting that I have to hit the brake pedal before they come/stay on.

Maybe I am about to jinx myself but ....
So far (15k miles) my 04 Cayenne turbo has had no major issues. I tow my enclosed trailex without any "check trailer lights". I have not had any problems with the rear window hatch.
The only issues I have had are:
9k miles and needed new 20" Michelin Diamaris tires.
Cowboy belt buckles.
Driver window "automatic up" feature doesn't always work.
Oh boy ..... what did I just get myself into by saying these things???!!!!!
PS. On a side note, this is truly the most friendly, funny, and entertaining forum on Rennlist. I spend more time on the GT3 forum and some on the Cayman forum, and occasionally on the 997 forum. Why does everyone always have some obnoxious, stupid, assanine, ignorant, arrogant, etc. etc. things to say to one another. I have to admit, I occasionally feel like blasting some idiots for their arrogant and ignorant posts. I do refrain from doing so - at least I think I have - but I just wish everyone was as easy going and enjoyable as MOST of the people posting right here!

Okay, here's the update: yes, the U-Haul is a mod only for those of us with LED trailers. I should have been more clear on this in the first post.
But... are you ready for this?
I don't mean to ruin all the fun...
...but I plugged in the several hundred adaptors...
...fired up the car...
...hit the turnsignal...
...and...
...the freaking trailer lights blinked. I mean blinked when they were supposed to blink. More amazing still...
...no "!"...
...AND the dash even threw me a " <-1-> ", which I had to look up in the manual...
...to confirm that it really is indicating that the trailer lights are flashing.
"Getthehellouttahere!," I shouted to nobody in particular. Sure enough, the system works, without flaws (oh, crap... jinxed again). So, of course, I spent the entire afternoon signaling all over the place. Right, left, left, right, right, right, hazards... what a blast. For a mere $70k+, you too can have an SUV that runs trailer lights.
