underwhelming car and personally I think it is due to the price point (not to mention a bit overpriced IMHO).

WAY TOO CLOSE to a base 997 and if somebody is going to spend $60K on a car why not $10K more and have one of the most iconic cars in history with a 911??? If the base 997 were to disappear and the model range were to START with the 997S at 82K the I think the Cayman would fit better.

Personally the lineup should be closer to this:
Boxster low 40s
Base Cayman mid 40s
BoxsterS high 40s
CaymanS low 50s
Base 997 (3.8) low80s
997S (would be a 3.8x51) low90s
GT3 right where it is 106K

Forgive my ignorance - what does "CPO" stand for?

The same thing happened with me. The Cayenne S lured me in enough to catch the bug, and I went and bought a 997 S cab about 1 year later.

Having both was easily justified for me...the winters in Wisconsin do not make for good 997 driving, especially 997s of the cabriolet variety.

You do not have the winters as an excuse, so you need to be a bit more creative. Perhaps on those occasions when you have more than one client, the Cayenne is the answer, but when you have only one client, the smaller 997 would provide a more appropriate and personal environment in which to coduct business. In addition, I think a cabriolet is a must in Arizona-- afterall, don't they cal it the "Valley of the Sun"? Sorry, but no Cayenne convertibles are available, and a panoramic roof just does not cut Enough justification to have a 2-Porsche family? I think so.

Someday I will make it back to a 2 Porsche car family. But I had to compromise and trade in my 911 cab when kid #2 came around. I held out for a while, but getting that child seat in and out of my 911 was such a PIA.

The funny thing is I was able to get my golf clubs into my trunk of my old 85 911 (sans the driver) but had a hell of a time getting them in and out of the back of my 996. I do miss the ragtop, especially on days like today (70 degrees and sunny), but unlike quite a few people on this board, I do really like the Cayenne and am glad I bought it. A couple of more upgrades and it will feel like mine. Then my sneaky *** is going to look for an older 911 to slip into the garage as a toy.....

It really is an addiction (mine was passed down by my German bred mother) these damn things.....

I agree.

I think the price point is the hype point. The Cayman coupe is less expensive to manufacture than a Boxter soft top (with all the mechanisms).

I think they did a good job with the design, it just has less value.

The Cayman S is a nice car , I wanted to get one but when I tested it , it was kind of slow, So I got my self an SLK55!

With the Cayman S you tend to compromise between personal prefrenceyou just need the essential items or it will get pricey!
