Default Aftermarket Hitch Mount, mountain bike

Just bought my 04 Cayenne, made a major mistake not negotiating in a hitch mount. Go price one from the dealer.

I bought the roof rack and the mountain bike rack. Broke one of the roof racks, took it back, got a replacement. Mountain bike rack finally arrives, I am jazzed to get my bike mounted and go for a ride. 1 major problem though, that cool looking rack has rather narrow tire rails and my bikes nice fat tires are too wide for the damn thing.

So now I have no way to transport the bike. I have a hitch mount rack that I use on my Tahoe, but want to use it on the Cayenne.

Questions:

Has anyone mounted the rack from Hitchesonline.com http://search.cartserver.com/search/...l0043&GO=GO%21

Are there any other alternatives to mounting on the roof without paying the dealer close to $2k for the OEM version?

I put the rear seats down and put my two bikes in the back.

If you dont need lights which you should not, you can get a Curt hitch for less than $200, see my gallery.

Thanks Mudman. It appears that you have done at least 3 mods that I want to do as well. I like the exhaust tips and was planning on asking about the Fabspeed pipes as well.

Where did you get the hitch? And does anyone know where in San Diego I can get that thing installed?

356Driver, Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately, I just don't have the time these days. I ordered the hitch along with some Fabspeed pipes, all to be installed at the same time.

Trust me, I have had old 911's and have spent plenty o'time in the garage trying to figure out German engineering. The hitch looks easy, it is that damn bumper that might be problematic....
