Question Standard fees for Service in U.S.

My Cayenne wil need its 40k service in a few thousand miles (this spring) and the dealer is telling me this is a "major" service interval and that it will take many hours as well as cost over $1000.00. B.S.? or on target?

I saw a post by mudman2 where he quoted his 40K service at $475 including tax? What a big difference from what I was told today. I know the service that is being carried out at 40K:

Diagnosis system: Read out fault memory
Vehicle underside and engine compartment: Visual inspection for leaks (oils and fluids) and abrasion (lines and hoses)
Underbody panels: visual inspection for completeness, installation and damage
Change engine oil and filter
Particle filter: replace filter element
Check drive belt
Steering gear: visual inspection of bellows for damage; tie rod end: check the play and dust bellows
Power steering: Check the fluid level and bellows
Fuel lines and connections: visual inspection
Coolant hoses: Check condition; radiators and air inlets at front: visual inspection for external contamination and blockage; Coolant: check the level and antifreeze protection
Foot-operated parking brake: check free play
Brake system: visual inspection of the brake pads and brake discs for wear
Brake hoses and lines: Visual inspection for damage, routing and corrosion. Checking the brake fluid level
Drive shafts: Perform a visual inspection of the boots for leaks and damage
Front cardan shaft: visual inspection of rolling lobes for damage (up to '03 model)
Rear cardan shaft: visual inspection of centre bearing for damage (up to '03 model)
Axle joints: check the play and visually inspect the dust bellows for damage
Exhaust system: visual inspection for leaks and damage, check suspension
Tires and spare wheel: Check the condition and the tire pressure
Lubricate door latch snib and fastening pins
Windscreen wiper/washer system, headlight washer: Check fluid level and nozzle settings, pay attention to antifreeze protection in the winter months; check wiper blades
Seat belts: check operation and condition
Vehicle lighting: Check function; All headlights: Check adjustment; Horn: Check operation.
Battery and vent hose: check condition
Electrical equipment as well as warning and indicator lights: Check operation.
Trailer hitch: check operation
Airbag system: check operation and condition (see Additional Maintenance)
Test drive:
Remote control, front seats, foot and parking brakes (also actuation travel), engine, clutch, steering, transmission, ParkAssist, automatic speed control, heating, air-conditioning system and instruments: Check operation.
Oils, fluids: visual inspection for leaks

They will change the oil and filter, change the spark plugs, do a brake fluid flush, and replace filter element for particle filter - maybe pads and rotors.

So for pads and rotors how much are folks paying?
Brake fluid flush?
40K straight service interval?

Any input would be appreciated - Thanks

$772.68 for 40K service back on 3/2005

($217.59 parts + $509 labor + $28.89 shop supplies/haz waste + $17.20 tax).

$24.44 oil filter insert
$1.88 aluminum seal rings
$67.50 M1 0W-40
$86.33 wiper blades
$37.44 pollen filter

I don't really think/ask about service fees or shop around for prices; I just drop off the cars and tell them 'whatever it needs'.

The 2004 Maintenance Guide states spark plugs 40K mi for Turbo, 60 K for S.

It also requires changing the brake fluid every two years.
