Default 2005 Cayenne S w/ Sim Phone Installed!

After having two PCM units develop problems, my dealer convinced someone at Porsche to get me an 06 PCM unit (he had in stock) with the sim tray. He then ordered me the phone parts and gulp, $2000 later, I have the sim phone option installed in my 05 Cayenne S. It required replacement of a fiber optic line and several other components but it is up and functioning. It is a great phone but this was more of a perseverance test than a sound financial decision.
The point of this is you can get what you want if your diplomatic and have a dealer that will work with you. It is hard to believe Porsche makes things so tough even for their dealers.

I had the PCM replaced in my 2004 Cayenne S due to the CD drive making loud clicking noises. The new unit was the PCM model with the SIM tray as well (other notable differences include a MAIL button, no ORG button, INFO button shows RADIOTEXT data and more, etc.) I like this PCM version much better all around.

However, the 2006 PCM units have the SAT buttons AND decode MP3 files. I was really hoping ot get an 06 unit for the MP3 capoability. Does your new unit have MP3? If not, it's not the 06 version.
