Default Bra anyone?

I just purchased the Porsche bra for my Cayenne TT. I got both pieces on quite easily and quickly. However, when I went to close the hood, it would not completely latch. I took off the hood piece and no problems. Anyone out there with experience? I will try again to put both pieces on next weekend.

I'm not sure about the Cayeene, but on my 911 washers need to be installed on the hood latch in order for the hood to close properly (it came with the washers). Did the Bra come with any additional hardware?

Does it also have difficulty without the nose / fender section removed and the hood section in place? If so, then the latch mechanism may need to be readjusted.

Having purchased more black bras than most women, I can state that the invisible bra is a MUCH better choice. A bra is way too much work. It needs to be removed, cleaned, dried and reinstalled. It is also sensitive to temperature, which makes it even more fun during the winter.

On many color vehicles a black bra provides a nice visual contrast, though.

I second the invisible bra - I had Armourfend installed a year ago and I love it.

Hey doc, those type of "bras" will ruin your paint and are very high maintence. I have a clear bra on my car in the pic it is awesome, no on will know it is there but you. You can only see a line at the edge and no big deal.
Some people will have the entire hood done so you cant see the line and this is fine also. I would get rid of that bra before it beats your paint to death!

Ifin you go with an invisible bra, mine has the front of the hood, the bumper, the front of the fenders, the headlights, the mirrors, below the gas door and the door edges. On my MB I had behind my rear wheels and the fog lamps done.

The whole hood is a better choice.

You know guys.. I understand the whole bra mentality.. but I'm naked in more ways than one.. So a few pebbles chip the hood... I like being "bra-less" and naked. I've got to get the exhibitionist thrill out of me somewhere.... why not with my Cayenne?

Every vinyl bra I've ever had required readjustment of the hood latch. Not sure how to do this on the Cayenne, but it should not be too difficult. If you purchased the bra at a Porsche dealer, I'd ask them to perform the adjustment for you at no cost...

BTW, I agree with the earlier comments about the clear bras...much less maintenance to achieve the same effect of protecting the paint...

I have the invisible bra that dealer had installed for my and love it! 28K miles and not a chip, and I do a little driving on snow/ice packed roads.

Okay, a CLARIFICATION of why I'm naked on the front view! If you have a Turbo i.e. ~100K US$ I might get a bra.. but really isn't the Cayenne a work horse and a few pits, dings, large bird indentations, etc. give it character? On a V6 or a S, I think it is more likely you'll get hit if you're using it as a daily driver than getting too much damage on the front. I have 60K miles and have one 1/2" circular indentation near the right headlight.. other than that NO scratches or marks at all.. But, If I were to get a 996/7 cab or a TT (eventually!) then I'd probably install a clear bra... you get protection but you feel "naked" that way!

While a very valid conclusion based on your experience driving "back east", those of us driving our Peppers west of the Ole Miss need a little more protection to avoid looking like we've been sprayed with a couple barrels full of 12-guage birdshot. If you drive distances on ANY interstate in CO, NM, AZ, etc. you are virtually guaranteed to pick up a 1/2" indentiation in the first ~1000 miles from all the extra gravel/sand/dirt that is blowing around.

(BTW, If I were you, I might make the same trade considering the conditions--i.e. for the price of a professionally installed clear bra, you could REPAIR the damage and have an entire new front nose paintjob after 60K miles).

Actually, when I go to trade this S (although both boys are arguing even at high mileage that they want it), I'd repair that spot. A local ding/dent/body shop guy said very doable and only I'd know it was there (well, and pro's at the used car shops). I simply meant that us EAST guys probably have a cost/benefit argument.. never mind aesthetics of the black leather condom aren't too spiffy. IF I went that direction, definitely a clear. DISCLAIMER DISCLAIMER... I'm not picking on the guys with black leather and whips or V6's like that new guy Larry.

My one regret was NOT installing a clear bra. Now I have dings and chips all over the front of my CTT. I'll probably end up getting my front end squirted and then I'll have the clear bra installed. It's a worthwhile investment - just do it.

BTW when I got my wife a Prius I had the clear bra installed immediately. What a difference.

Keep your bra and play with it it will get on. I didn't have to move any latches on mine.

Going fast speeds on roads that were sanded for winter can throw up some larger stones that film bras won't stop.
