I haven't sorted out the sputtering entirely. new spark plugs helped a good bit but am now awaiting a new coil and think that might be the fix. A shootout sounds great!

Laura,

That sounds great! Lets set up a date and the procedure! I'll also see if we can ask European Car to get involved (no promises tho!)

Laura - if you need a test mule for the software, you can certainly use my Cayenne Turbo!! :-)

When is the Boxster software ready?

Well, anyone who is interested, I can arrange for a discounted dyno run on the MAHA this saturday. I need to find some baseline information pre-shootout. I'm looking for Cayenne Turbo's from different years (2003-2006). email me and let me know!

Problem solved. Sputtering was cracked coils and fouled plug. Coils and plugs replaced and sputtering gone. Dealer knew about the poblem and said it's been happening a bunch lately. Also learned that coils now have a newer part number which most likely corresponds to some improvement, new number ends in 1, old in 0. Incidentally, I had four misfiring cylinders and 8 damaged coils.

If you guys set up a shootout I have a good feeling we would participate (as long as it had mag. coverage). We did the 996TT shootout with good results so I think I could convince the higher powers to send one of our 600HP Cayennes to it

Just FYI, the shootout will be on 91 octane!

Wow did anything ever happen with this? I would love to see an impartial shoot out. But it should be as stated, on one pepper and switch between all manf. with no other mods.

This should be magazine worthy....

Yes what ever evolved from this ......and it would be better if you were running at least 95 octane i know living in califorina before you cant get from the pump but once you go under 95 octane the computers in the cayenne dull down the power threw knock code being detected( I had read somewhere).
