I hate to ask, but...

Is this a problem with ALL Cayennes and trailers?

No, a "nominal" quantity of incandescent lamps works just fine.

!!!!!!

All this talk about Titans and Excursions, have you guys been to "Titantalk and the "Dieselstop" websites. The horror stories there about various issues, especially the PowerStroke 6.0L engine scared me away, and "polarized" my truck buying decision..I'm waiting to see the new Toyota full size.

There isn't a link. Why would I fix their vehicle for them? Is that my job?

Yup.
Nominal # of bulbs.....exactly how many bulbs in a 'nominal'?
Go ahead, get the answer from PAG/PCNA.

Always interesting to see the dealer unscrewing bulbs, per PCNA directions, in order to 'fix' the trailer. Spend $20K on an enclosed car hauler and drive around with bulbs/lights 'missing'. Brilliant!

Can't comment on Titans (sorry, to me, 'foreign truck' is like 'jumbo shrimp'....doesn't sound right) since I'm a Ford person.

Have owned 3 Powerstrokes, the only problem was the CPS (crankshaft position sensor dying (common fault) on the 7.3liter. Early 6.0's had some issues, but the later ones seem to be fine. 100K miles and they're just about broken in.....gotta love a diesel.

So, I provide real working solutions that permit those who own a Cayenne, to eliminate their trailer light problems TODAY and this merits a facetious judgment of “Brilliant”. However, with self-proclaimed greater knowledge than the PAG engineers, the best that may be offered from a genius IQ is flippant comments?

How does a persistent, indignant, jocular response respond, in ANY way, to the very real questions and concerns to owners who are unable to have their trailer lights operate properly?

So maybe the plan is to provide competent technical knowledge in all other areas and comic relief on this topic. I don’t know. I didn’t get that memo.

Wingless - do you know what trailers do work with the Cayenne, those that have 'just enough' incandescent lights? Sounds like some trailer manufacturer might make a niche market just by producing a line of trailers that are 'Porsche Cayenne Compatible'. I'll get on it once I know what trailers work.

Maybe they could make a cool Cayenne compatible sticker, too.

It appears that a single 1157, combination stop / turn / tail lamp. plus two to six additional running lamps, works fine.

My guess is that additional running lamps, less than the 18 that caused flickering is also okay.

As stated before, it is likely that an LED trailer could be made compatible by adding incandescent lamps, or some of the other mods. Or, an incandescent lamp trailer could have lots of additional LED lamps.

The U-Haul Resistor Adapter is an easy fix to the LED trailer light woes.

Sorry for my ignorance here Wingless...would all of the lights have to be converted to LED's?

Only to use the U-Haul LED-only adapter.

Too bad they don't make one with the other type of plug...
