For some reason the glass used for the speedometer and other instruments in the cluster smudges easily and it's hard to keep clean. I am concerned about scrathing it with a cloth which is too abrasive. Anyone have any suggestions?

Go to your optometrist, get some spray on eyeglass cleaner and a microfiber lens cleaning cloth.
