I don't know what's more sad...that he's willing to sell it for $21,000 or that someone hasn't already bought it for that price.

Seriously, I wonder what's going on here. Does anyone know?

To me, this seems like a scam. It is odd that you would have to contact the seller first, and the price is totally out of whack. There are lots of warnings all over the net about scams where a prospective (but losing) bidder is contacted by the seller to make a deal outside of the auction site's [not sure if I can say the name] universe. A deal is made, and money is sent, but the goods never come. The buyer has no recourse through the auction site because it was essentially done back channel and the "seller" disappears into cyberspace with the $$$. I would be cautious of the "Important- contact me first" admonishment.

This looks like a scam:

1. the offer is too good to be true (Very nice car with lovely interior, but probably not in possession of the seller)

2. Seller has 0 feedback

3. Bidders IDs private - so shill bidding can be hidden easily

4. I find it interesting that someone would do a 3-Day auction on a car that definitely needs a bit of exposure in order to sell for a decent price/ Looks like someone who wants the money quick - and then run.

No, this can't be real - no way!

Default Its official!

I just got a reply back from the "seller" (yeah right). Here it is:

Hello,

I know that you have many choices on eBay and I appreciate that you contacted me. The car is in a perfect cosmetic and engine conditions, and meticulously maintained. No damage, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, the engine doesn't smoke, runs and sounds awesome, the engine has never been repaired or something like that, never been into accidents and it is as advertised . The sale price I am after is $21,000.00 but I can accept offerts. I will be shortly, as I have many inquiries as you can see: US specs, US plates, US supplied, free title and condition LIKE NEW!. It's no catch here. The price is real. I am located in London, UK in holiday. The car location is Bolivar, New York. Shipping and insurance is covered by me. A deposit of 3,000 USD is requered to buy my car and reserve it for you. The transaction will be made only via eBay. The balance has to be paid within 7 days of shipping/inspection or title transfer. Let me know if you are still interested so I can give further details.

Thank you,
L.S.

Need I say more?

There was an identical scan going on regarding a Porsche 968, priced WELL below any reasonable expectation.
After much forum discussion, someone emailed eBay regarding the issue, the listing was immediately removed...and showed up again a few weeks later.
