Default DIY - Brake pad change

Has anyone changed their own pads? I just found some low dust pads and I want to change the front. Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks

I am about to change mine also. From what I have found out it sounds like a simple pin and sensor removal and the pads come out.

You should also replace the rotors and sensors. I have bought the rotors but don't plan on changing them if they look ok when I have them off. They are a single screw ala Carrera.

Take photos I plan to also.

Serious reply:
Have you checked over on renntech?

Now, the typical 'ltc' reply:
You found the 'Holy Grail' of Cayenne ownership? Real low dust pads?
'skl' has been the leader of this quest for sometime....skl, you reading this?

while I on the other hand never wash the Cayenne nor the wheels...let alone change things like oil, pads....only parts which fail and are replaced under a recall/service action....most of the vehicle now that I think about it....cardan shaft, brake pads, windshield wipers,, A/C system, tow control unit (my favorite), so I prefer the "high dust" pads.

Yes Lewis, I'm reading this... I'm going to get them from brakeworld.com assuming their webpage is correct and they do offer them for Cayennes! I do get sick of washing wheels- unfortunately I'm **** about that. I love seeing people driving their bimmers or MBs with black front wheels! Your Cayenne must look like that

Nothing a Brillo pad wouldn't be able to cut thru

Yes, the Cayenne is pretty much a mess, but as I've said, it's a race to the grave between me and the Cayenne.....

I'm sure the front wheels on the 996TT or 968 don't look like that!!

Spotless, immaculate.

The 996TT (re: garage queen) has never been in the rain....never even checked to see if the wipers actually worked, and last service they replaced the rear wiper blade due to dry rot

The 968 Cab (re: garage princess) will probably never be driven with the top up and will receive the same attention.

Hell, even my son's kart gets a full cleaning after every session on track.

Yes, the Cayenne holds a special place in my heart
