Default Feasibility of PCM Software Upgrade to enable MP3 Decoding?

The 2006 Cayenne models have now hit the streets and their PCM systems nicely decode MP3 files - including folder/subfolder hierarchy.

I suspect, though have no specific knowledge, that there is no MP3 hardware related to this feature, just PCM-based software which decodes MP3 files, browses disc folder/file structure, and properly displays ID3 metadata.

If this is the case, does anyone think it is feasible for PCNA to release a software upgrade for earlier PCM models to enable these MP3 features?

Personally, I would even pay for this upgrade as it would solve a major problem for me and eliminate the need for an iPOD interface (for me anyway).

I hope PCNA realizes that this software upgrade would vastly improve the usefullness of pre-2006 PCM systems and make many owners happy, especially in light of the dearth of MOST-enabled interfaces.

Thoughts?

Yes, I realize that. If you read my post you will see that I made that pretty clear.

What I am asking for is a PCM software upgrade for PRE-2006 PCM systems.
