Are they road force balanced? Have you had the alignment checked? There are guys here running 22's and not complaining of vibes but I think you are asking for it running such a set up. I don't have any vibes with my factory 20's but 18" wheels and tires would almost surely eliminate the vibration....good luck.

You need to get them balanced again. Size of the rim and alignment have nothing to do with vibration. My 22's don't vibrate.

You don't REALLY believe that do you?

I can swallow that your 22's don't vibrate but I think you are way off stating that wheel size and alignment have nothing to do with vibrations. Care to elaborate?

Had a bad vibration around 70 MPH on my 22" Pirellis's. Had them rebalanced twice, (first time actually got better, second time actually got worse than the firt time). Finally I replaced the tires with BfGoodrich GForce tires and the problem seems to be cured...

What does the size of the wheel matter? If properly balanced, no vibration. Same is true for any size wheel. Alignment will affect the way your car tracks, pulls, etc. A bad alignment will not cause a vibration similar to an unbalanced tire.

It could also be bad tires, flat spotted, defects, etc or a bent wheel.

aren't you supposed to put 285/35/22 instead of the 295?

It seems that the correct tire size would be 295 and not 285 as far as diameter difference goes... If you compare
Stock Tire - 255/55R18
295/30R22 Diameter difference: 0.28%
285/35R22 Diameter difference: 2.72%

It is recommended to stay within 3% of Diameter...

The wheel diameter matters because for one, it requires a lower profile less forgiving sidewall. That alone can transfer vibrations. The larger wheels are heavier making them more difficult to balance in some cases. Alignment on such wide low profile tires is also pretty critical. Many Cayennes came with poor alignments that led to early tire wear. If this is one of them it could adversely wear the tires very quickly and cause a vibration from cupping. It was very common to see the inside edges of factory 20's worn and cupped very early on.

My first post was not meant to say 22's are stupid and can't be balanced. In fact I suggested a road force balance to get them right. Fact is though, alignment, a very real Cayenne issue, and heavier wheel/tire combos with very short sidewalls both can easily contribute to wheel balance problems.

It could also be bad tires, flat spotted, defects, etc or a bent wheel.
Right, so why the "just get them balanced" post. Clearly it could have been a number of things, why take a shot at me, I was just trying to help.

No shot intended. Since he clearly stated he just installed them (with the assumption they were new and not used) tire cupping from a bad alignment would not have happened yet. I think we both recommended the same.
