Jaro, Jaro, Jaro ------ Tsk, Tsk, and Tsk -- translated southern a la Gomer Pyle, for shame, for shame, for shame Jay-roe.

First and foremost, the BMW Kool-Aid sucks<@
Secondly, BMW(s) are more notorious for shop time than Porsche(s).. have you read some of the posts from guys coming out of BMW's to the Porsche line, right here in this forum?
Thirdly, and face it, you've worked through all the S glitches, why move on to a lesser utilitarian vehicle with the potential for repeating the "vicious cycle" with another German manufacturer?
Fourthly, Can you imagine the "beating" you'll take on the trade "vhen zee little BMW sales schitzu lookz at zee Cayenne and zays it is crap and that is why you're trading, you idiot."
Fifthly, when the above happens and you lose it and punch him in the nose, what will that cost you? Save the $$$ on the trade and the lawsuit<@
Lastly, the BMW forum devotees suck more than their Kool-Aid<@*

*(out of respect for the "vacationing" ltc who currently resides in a "villa", this indicates the character to the left of @)

p.s. You wrote "reason".... these are merely a small number of the reasons.. there are countless more... plus, you wouldn't ask if deep down in your soul you know you're a Porsche Stud<@

I have previously owned a half dozen BMW's. The last was a '98 750iL that was replaced by the Cayenne. I simply can't do the bangled styling, no way now how, that has become the fugliest line of autos on the planet. Then i-drive, universally derided by the automotive press and owners alike, no way again. SMG doesn't have very many fans nor does the new steering system in those cars. The engine is clearly a high point, the rest is not for me anymore. My '98 750 was in the shop 25 times in 50k miles. My Cayenne S has been in just for service, three times in 30k, you do the math. Besides the CS is the more practical with awd and the much larger cargo area.

There's no reason why you shouldn't do it.....

Besides, if you are ever the victim of closed head trauma and find yourself actually wanting another Cayenne, I'm sure they will still be available, as they are mass producing these things like there's no tomorrow.

Live Long and Prosper.
Run, and don't look back.

No reason why he shouldn't? Well, hmmm... losing money on the trade because there will soon be millions of Cayennes sounds like a good reason<@ ....and beating your head against the wall and causing you to be in another German manfacturer's "vacation villa" isn't another good reason??? Time for the meds again. Remember Jaro, ltc is still "easing" back into the forum.. Buy a BMW and beware.. Buy a Porsche and beware... buy a Lexus and become a 1,000,000 vehicle clone.

p.s. remember too, ltc, has substituted avatars.. this is his current one.. a computer glitch at rennlist put his old one back in its place.

MadFox,
That avatar still makes me laugh.

These things are 4 wheeled depreciation machines. They are cranking them out as fast as possible to fund all of the other projects/stock purchases. I don't think the trade in 'hit' is an issue....then again, I'm not allowed to control my own finances, apparently I'm not very good with money.

If he is waiting for more 'modern' infotainment devices to be added to Porsches, he's going to have to wait until 2008-2009 (MY or CY)....trust me on this.

As far as the meds go, I'm actually feeling a bit better, as my Cayenne has been at the dealer for almost 3 weeks now.....the longer I'm away from it, the better I feel and the fewer meds I seem to require.

If Jaro wants a sedan, he should go buy a sedan.....although if he can wait (and not drown drinking the Porsche Purplesaurus Rex Kool Aid in the meantime), the Panamera (ridiculously beautiful when you see it in person) may be worth waiting for.

hahhahaha....alright guys....thanks for feedback...I knew you will whip me back to my senses....I'll start slowly on the meds soon and will not think of the BMW...
On the trade-in side I would not take a hit as I bought the car with 14k miles a year ago...3-5k of what I bought it for...so not the issue....one thing is true and that is not wanting to drive a car that is so common it is not fun to drive it anymore...indeed I do soo a lot of Cayenne's out there these days but far more x5's and 5 series....thanks gents...I'm a Porsche guy and will stay that way...just needed to hear you all tell me what I fool I'm....and you did good.....I'll get my refill and increase the dosage....

Whilest money for some Porsche owners may not be a reason (and for some who only worry, what the payment is going to be), I can't imagine that BMW will be "generous". Plus, high gas prices may slow the assembly line<@

Pray tell what the hell is wrong with it? I am close to your number of visits but never more than a week and my loaner last time was a very pleasant base Cayenne NOT<@

I agree by the time the Panamera comes out, they'll have MOST integration, Bluetooth phones, glitches on the V8 figured out and probably one of the fastest and finest 20MPG luxury sedans in the world. BUT BMW's are not for the faint hearted who just went through glitch city Johnson with Porsche<@ just ask Brent<@

The usual.
My dealer (who I still can't say enough good things about...they're amazing...they actually may have convinced me to buy the Carrera GT after all) is taking yet another crack at the (I'm going to search for THAT key.....) "!" and complete loss of trailer lights issue (trailer lights at 3AM....who needs them anyways), radio reception...or lack thereof, a service action/recall or two, etc....mainly small stuff at 50K before the warranty (and my meds) expire.

The funny phone call of the day was when they told me that in the process of replacing the 3M film on the nose (fogged, bad batch of film apparently, replaced under warranty), the paint came off the nose of the Cayenne.....I just started laughing uncontrollably and told them to just leave it as is, it just seems fitting. They are taking the nose off and respraying it......then something else went wrong in the body shop.....I just don't call anymore. If the car is ever ready, I suppose I'll go and pick it up...if not, that's fine too. I have had a new 05 V6 Cayenne as a loaner this time...not bad.

Unfortunately, I have to hold onto the Cayenne for a bit longer, until some other items are resolved......hey, as long as my meds hold out, how bad could it be?

Is your middle name Murphy? Or is that a dark cloud I see over your shoulder? May have to revise the avatar. Love your dealer but they still should be quicker after all you've gone through. And good for you.. you obviously have not "lost it" and become a screamer..... well, okay at the dealership --- apparently at the "villa" you did and thus the straight jacket<@

Just for giggles, we are on leg #2 and my son and I hear sort of a flapping noise. We're doing 50 on a road leading to the interstate and he leans out the window and says something is flapping behind the wheel well on his side. I pull off the road and the bottom trim piece below the front pax door is peeling back and flapping. Silver strip covers the rubber bottom. So I peel it back gently and take it off. So I now have a 3 1/2 foot by 2 inch silver metal piece that has double-sided tape on it in my trunk area.. Guess I'll make Porsche put on the new tape.. My son said .. "geez what next"... I sarcastically snapped back.. "shut your mouth, we don't want to jinx this car" We both laughed our heads off.. another famous quote is appropriate "it's always somethin' " with these Cayennes<@

The dealer has been great, but they are trying to fix something which was designed with an invalid set of assumptions/parameters, so there is little they can do.
They have done a great job replacing/updating the electronics modules....the car will from time to time 'forget' it has installed options (like a trailer tow control unit, footwell lighting, etc) due to corrupted configuration memory...I'll skip the details.
The matter of the (please excuse me again) "!" is in the process of being resolved seperately from the dealer and should be resolved within a year.

No, I haven't lost it, just realized exactly what the vehicle is and how it was designed.

My dealer tells me I'm actually one of the easiest customers they've ever had. I don't complain, I don't question, I don't call, I even tell them to not bother with the complimentary hand wash after each service...I've simply stopped caring about the Cayenne (I've never washed/waxed it since I bought it....just one trip to a detailer in 2 years); it was purchased to simply pull my trailer (Cup car or son's kart) and it's not even fully capable of that, so whatever.

Not worth a anymore, it's easier now just to and

Geez, I feel like a kid and my puppy died. Kind of sad that a Porsche doesn't inspire more That's a shame for since you obviously like your Cup car and are thinking about a GT. What say you about a 997? Will the same "glitch" issues apply? How many problems did you or do you have with the 996TT?

Quick Reply: would you get out of a Cayenne S and get BMW 550i?
