Question Tracking New '06 Cayenne Order

As some of you know, a couple weeks ago I ordered a custom build '06 CS. I'm told plant is closed in lepzig for August and it will be build in Sept. for Oct. delivery. I know this is a little obsessive, but I'd like to be able to track the status of the build. Dealer says they can do this and will keep me updated, but I'd like to be able to follow it myself because I don't expect dealer to update me as ofter as I'd like and I think it would be fun to follow the progress of the build. (Mercedes has a way of letting customers do this).

Does anyone have any information on how/whether this can be done for Porsche without having to go through (i.e. pester) the dealer?

Unfortunately Porsche do not have an online tracking capability but will have by 2010-2015 which is about how long it takes for them to catch up with non essential stuff !!!

I know the dealer can call and see where she is on the assembly line, but for us common folk to check, I think we are out of luck...

Porsche doesn't offer this unfortunately. Kind of surprised as BMW is very good on this as was Mini- we followed the process completely through even which ship the Mini was on. They try and make it fun at the mini site. I guess Porsche just thinks, the hell with it, it will come when it's done! The dealer can track it for you as I bugged them several times about the Cayenne and 911- the dealer was accomodating but they should be!

Yes but when you compare the relative sizes of the two companies its sort of understandable
