I have 19's and they worked fine. No need to go with 17's. 18's should be fine.

If anyone is interested I have a set of aftermarket Cayenne Turbo rims 18". They are OEM but not OE. The alloy is different, but look the same.

You can eleminate the 17" wheels as a possibility. They will not fit over your brakes.

I may be mistaken but I believe the sales brochure says all three models have the same brakes just different color. Cayenne-Black, Cayenne S-Silver, Cayenne Turbo-Red and the Cayenne comes with 17" wheels stock. So why wouldn't they fit?

The V-6 Cayenne front brakes are smaller than the S/Turbo brakes, making the 17" possibile for the V-6 Cayenne. Rear brakes are the same for all.

Just for further clarification... the V-6 front calipers are the same... but the rotors are smaller (about 3/4 inch).

I have never heard of 17" wheels on a Turbo and I don't know if it's possible. Standard wheels on the Cayenne V6 are 17" but on the Cayenne S and TT they are 18". You are able to choose from a variety of excellent winter tires on the 18" rim so that is what I would go with. Choosing the right tires makes more of a difference than the size of the wheels. With winter tires the Cayenne is an excellent snow vehicle.

You omitted the Pirelli Scorpion Ice and snow in 19" 255/45 which are also NO rated Porsche approved. Very nice snow tire. If you don't want to spend the money on an extra set of rims and have 19's they work well.

I highly recommend buying a spare set of wheels to go with the snows. The spare wheels will pay for themselves in 2 years or less based on their cost vs the cost to mount and balance twice a year.

I picked up a prestine set of 19's on ebay with full Perelli tires most of the tread left for $1300 including shipping. I now have a set of tires for when I wear out the stock set and the car looks the same all year long. It is also good if you damage a wheel. You can steel from the other 4. The 18's can be picked up for less.

Porsche does not approve any 19" winter tire fitments, nor does it offer snow chains in 19" sizes. If you go 19" you are on your own!

Default Pirelli

Go for the Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snows on 18's. I've got them on my '04 CT and really like them. Great on the snow of course but also fine on dry pavement. I was expecting more tire roar on the hwy but didn't really notice any more than on my Conti summer only SportContacts.

It most certainly does. I have the tires they have the NO rating marked on them and they are listed in last Decembers? could be January's Christophorus Mag as approved tires. Snow chains are not approved. I discussed this with PCNA before purchasing.

Anthony,

I stand corrected. Thanks for the clarification!

Go with 20's! Talk to Justin at Brandywine Porsche. Got Continental 20" winters in OEM size from Germany through Brandywine last year. Worked great. I would not be happy going from 20's to 18's for up to 6 mos.

I certainly recommend the 18 inch Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snows. They handle well in the wet and do a great job in the white!
