I know a few guys running the Nittos in a 18" wheel size on the Mercedes G500's. I have even been off road with one wearing those tires. He had driven from Tennesse to Utah on them, off-roaded in Moab for a few days and drove home. I know he had tried a BFG AT prior to the Nitto's and liked the Nitto's better. Does the Nitto come in an XL load rating? I had my dealer tell me that they had seen some tires that were not XL torn up running on a the heavy Cayenne. I can't confirm if that is actually true but, the Cayenne is a heavy truck.

One thing to seriously consider is a spare. 85% of off-road mishaps are tire related. The compact spare wouldn't be much comfort to me, and fix-a-flat doesn't seal sidewall tears. If I you are going to be more than a couple miles from civilization and extra full size wheel/tire either on the ugly factory mount or in the cargo area would be a good idea.

Load rating is important on the Cayenne. Nitto's have a load index of 109 on a scale of 71-110. 109 translates to 2271 lbs/tire at 50 lbs inflation.

BTW I agree the wimpy spare tire poses a risk for serious off-roading. To avoid this throw a full-size spare in the back. Of course then you'd have about as much cargo space as an H2. Be sure to pack a small lunch.

My car is an 05 (Sept) and I haven't used it yet so I can't comment ..it doesn't interfere in any way with normal activities.
