I always felt my dealership was a little on the steep side, but $240 is just rediculous for an oil change. What does your dealership charge on a Cayenne S?

It's really not not hard to change the oil yourself, especially if you have PASM and raise the car to the highest position. It will probably take you about 2 hours the first time you try it and 1.5 hours or less the next time after you figure you how to do it. Add to a couple hours of your time about $45 for 9 quarts of Mobil 1, and about $15 for an oil filter and I think you come out ahead doing it yourself. Plus it's a chance to bond with you car!

I had the same problem with my 911. Dealers wanted to charge 300+ for an oil change. It turned out that they also wanted to check other things such as hinges, and other nonsense. Otherwise, how could they justify such a huge markup for such a simple task? Since then, I've always done the oil changes myself on the 911 as well as the Cayenne. Recently, however, I've noticed dealers in Northern California offering much more competitive rates on oil changes --- something like $119, which isn't bad considering filters cost ~15-20 + 9-10 quarts of Mobil 1.
