WOW the trunk really sucks, it keeps popping out in this blizzard, I just don't understand why a German engineer is so poor. But it handles really well in snow so I am just going to shut my mouth Drive safe guys!

Just got mine back (tires) they checked the system over with the PIWIS. No update to DME was required so my guess is they have not yet released it into the US yet..

I just got mine back from the dealer 20 min ago and WOW this thing is MUCH better now. The W516 DME has made a tremendous difference for me....it may be more noticable for me because of the turbo. Some things I noticed:

1) At each and every stop it drops right down to D1 as others have reported. Mine used to only go to D1 after cold startups
2) Under 40 mph it stays in D3 or D4 depending - I remember last week looking down and seeing it in D6 under 40mph wondering why would you ever want to be in such a high gear at such a low speed!!
3) Shift points seem much smoother and get you up to higher speeds faster
4) The e-gas feels much more responsive meaning when changing lanes and slightly pressing on the pedal it drops gears faster and much lower to overtake the turtles in front of me I used to have to put the hammer to the ground to get it to drop from D6 to D3 to rip past people.

Easily got it north of 100 in no time!! Can't wait to drive it again this weekend

Hope that helps!

TimC, Anyone,

Is the TSB W516? latest release? let me know, i called my dealer well he has no idea, he told me that the normal way should start in 2nd, and he wont do the update if there's nothing wrong with the car, i think that's bull. I called him as soon as I saw your post. Patrick is yours shifting now on 1st?

I got my CS back last night. In the short 5 mile drive home, I did not notice any difference in shifting. It started in 2nd every time. I will give it a better test this weekend.

My tech told me the 516 update was for the engine, and was to eliminate false CEL. They did give me a new transmission DME, if that is the right term.

I also got new tires for free. Defective Pirellis. They replaced with Contis.

Default Correction

One correction to my quote from a day or two ago. From the dead stops it goes down to D2 instead of D1 as I had stated. It seems like from a cold start it goes to D1 then after driving for a while it goes as low as D2. Which is fine for me because D1 really is aggressive and I can always click down one if I need. Other than that I am VERY happy with the new shift points they just make much more sense now !!

One more post.... I drove my CS today for the first time after the new DME. Wow, this is what I wanted! Starts in second, like Tim. However, it isn't constantly shifting into lower gears. The gears shift later during normal and hard acceleration (shifting at higher RPMs). Additionally, when you punch it while moving, it does not hesitate and drop two gears quickly.

So far, so good.

We also had the DME done without having replaced the brain box to the 05 version.

Our CT also starts in second and drives perfect, I have to agree with TimC, if the car started in first that would be too much and with the power it really is useless.
Kick down on gears is much better and all around the new download worked wonderful for us.

We had it done 2 months ago.

guys, I went to the dealership because my car is a little messed up with the airbag light, abs light and AWD failure light, it all happened out of nowhere, never had this problem before, hopefully its the last time. Anyway, they tell me that there is another recall for DME upgrade, so this will be my second try.

Mike: sure! I will do that! I had ABS failure workshop light, Airbag fault (it never came out before so I am one of them with no airbag light problem), and the AWD failure, hopefully it can be resolved asap. He told me that it may have something to do with the software upgrade. We'll see
