Default Battery Life

Torags:

I'm another Bay Area boy and also have been commuting in the rain. I've also been making short trips with lights on. To add to that, I've got all four seat heaters running. I haven't noticed the battery drain issue. Mine is a '04 CT.

Have you tried to get P-car to replace the alternator?

Maybe, just maybe, you car has a faulty battery or something in your car is draining a lot of power.
When a battery is discharged completely, it's lost 50% of its life spam, imagine if that happens more than once. Anyhow, you should check your car's alternator also.

Check this gel batteries> http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=36807

In the meantime you could use a battery charger like this>

By the way, I have no affiliation w/ Griot's Garage, just a happy customer.

Alex,

Do you have the two batteries or just one? I also have a 04CT with 2 batteries, and I have no problems. But many of the C's now just have the one battery, so maybe that's the problem. Much has been posted on this subject in the past, and I came to the conclusion that 2 batteries and no spare was better than one battery and a spare. Remember you couldn't get a spare initially because of the 2nd battery.

You're absolutely right, Phil.A lot of owners don't even know that.
I wonder if the newer models have a higher alternator output?

I'm going to take it in...

I have just the one battery. Spare and sub-woofer in the rear well.

HUH?

'04 Cayenne's have "auto" lights as part of a convience option. As far as DRL's go, it's just a matter of coding a control unit to turn them on. Should be a no change issue.

My dealer told me the DRL's can't be turned on. They probably don't know how to turn them on and don't want to spend any time figuring it out. Oh well......

This morning - a dead battery. Called 800-Porsche for help; three times and circuits down no help. Called AAA direct got a boost within half hour. Less time than I wasted on 800 Porche....

Torags,

Did you really get a ticket for the headlights off with the wipers going? From everything I've read, this law doesn't go into effect until July 1 -- so maybe I just misuderstood your post.

No.. no.. No ticket; just a dead battery.

My way of ventilating. It is the third time. When I bring it in for oil change I'll have the alternator checked.
