Default Service Now Light 10k

I just changed my oil today...my "service now" light is on. Anyone know how to turn this off or reset it. Dealership says it has to be done by their computer, is this true? Thanks.

Mine came on at something like 5k miles. No oil change before or after, the dealer just reset it.

Mine gave me a message at about 7Kmi that said 3Kmi until service. My service guy told me to ignore it, said he's seen some go on as early as 5Kmi, and reset it.

Mine came on at 3000 miles (5k), I changed the oil and had the dealer reset the code during it's next warranty visit.

Is there a Porsche computer reset/diagnostic tool that can be purchased? I had one for my BMW and it was convenient to have when service lights came up.

no, as there are many, MANY proprietary codes, it would be difficult to tell what the downloaded codes REALLY mean.

Default service light reset

the service light can be reset at home. Had 10,000 service done on wife car . Wife drove home . when I got home from work checked out work to make sure every thing was done right ,had other issues, and notice service light was not reset ,called service rep:He gave me the little trick to reset, that was 5000 miles ago. I wish I could remember the sequence, it is all done with the program wand. Just call your service rep.

I just changed the 0-40w oil and filter in both my Cayennes. I searched the forums for how to reset the "Service Now" indicator, and this thread is what I came up with. Is there a sequence to reset the Service Now with oil changes, as turbox4 indicates? My dealer is 1.5 hrs away.

Thanks,
Jeff Walker

Can't believe someone doesn't make a program for Porsche's diagnostic port- sure would be a market for it! My VAG-COM for my VW-Audis works great and was pretty cheap considering...

Pardon me, but did you use a "!" in your post?
It would be nice if someone did write a program for the diag port, if to do nothing other than disable the "!".
Wait, now did I just use a "!" in a post?
