Changing the oil is easy. I've done it three times... twice on the old 'S' and once on the 'TTS'.

The hard part is getting all the plastic rock pans off. That is quite frankly a PITA and adds an HOUR to the job. Plus, while getting the plastic rock pans off you'll get to wear alot of road debris in your hair.

Even though, I would not consider NOT changing my own oil. A man has to do what a man has to do.

Damn straight!!

I have done mine 3 times as well and find the air suspension can finally be put to use HAHA!

Seriously, beyond getting the plastic panels off, which you should use the power drill for on the bolts, assemble all back by hand, it truly is cake walk.

I did the Madfox thing about a month or so ago, was nice as I am finding less time to wrench. Just to give you a price it was $75 Labor to change the oil and airfilters............ I supplied oil and filters- air and oil.

The other reason why I do it is so I can get the oil sampled as the Turbos do have a fuel dilution problem and shears the oil like hell.

I wonder if it's OK to leave these plastic panels off...hey, might save some weight and improve gas mileage to boot!

Nope, quite easy to change the diff oil and I'd definitely recommend doing it. My car has 46k miles and the oil was very dirty.

BTW, I just completed my 5th oil and filter change on my V6 cayenne today.

It's down to 30-35 minutes, easy as can be. I pay $50 for 7qts of M1, 0w-40 and a filter... and save $300 compared to dealer price.

Easy.

Is the drain configuration the same on the V6 & V8? In the photo, that plug (?) near the D5 looks like a drain plug, and it doesn't appear to an 8mm allen.

Does anyone remember that post a while back......

"Oh ****, I pulled the wrong plug and drained something other than the oil....now what do I do/"

No one?, oh, never mind then.

That's NOT what the drain plugs look like on the V8's!

I seem to recall there is another thread with photos of the V8 drain plugs, I'll look for it later.

Question for the people who change their own oil- do you constantly get the oil change reminder light when you start the car? I assume so since no way to re-set the oil change reminder sequence in the computer without some sort of reset tool, correct?

I'll jump over to the 993 board and search for the name. As I recall the price is around $225 (or the price of 1 dealer oil change). Edit: The price is $287.

Found it: http://www.durametric.com/

As for the poster who said it takes 1 hr to remove the plastic panels I can remove mine in less than 15 min.
