Josh,
I'm afraid your options are limited to FM modulators:

Hardwired (excellent previous post from our moderator with pics)
or
Dongle (http://www.myirock.com/players/wirel...ransmitter.asp)

There have been reports that the iTrip doesn't work too well; this one is said to be much better.

I agree, but it depends on where you mount it.

If you are creative (or have it done professionally) and install it in the rear near the antennas, it is much better.
However, if you are going to go thru all that trouble, the hardwired FM modulator (as you did) is the better option.

Thanks Itc,

I've tried the iRock and one other and they both suck. The newest one for the latest iPod works great in my 996 and not at all in the Cayenne...very strange. I'll look into the hard wire now.

I posted this on Roadfly - then saw it as a subject here. Thought maybe CDR-220 owners would be interested.

I have an iceLink for a 993 with a CDR-220. (The CDR-220 is not fiber optic.) IceLink works so much better than FM Modulation. One can control volume and track selection and fast forward and backward using the radio controls. I keep the iPod in my center console, after having wired under the carpet for power and iPod connection. Dension said that a printer cable extension wouldn't work (supplied cord is too short to reach the center console), but bull headedly I tried it and it does work.

Dension told me several months ago that the Cayenne version would be ready by year-end. So it is in process. I agree that everyone should get on a wait list to spur them on. It is really a good product.

The iTrip for the new iPods is an improvement over the original iTrip.

As for 996 vs Cayenne performance, it is due to antenna location and wiring. The Cayenne's rear spoiler antenna farm looks like something you'd see when searching for extra terrestrials.....hence why the radio reception and keyless remote range is so bad in this car. The Touareg got fixed, but not so for the Cayenne.

As for Denison going to market with a MOST device, if true, that would mean they are now legally licensed or in the process of joining the MOST cooperation.

There is a market for this device, considering Porsche seems to be staying with MOST up to 2007.

Default no control with FM Transmiter

I've a FM transmiter, but u can't control your iPod using your main console or steering wheel buttons, that why I would like to have the Icelink.

I had an Archos 4Gb on my X5, very difficult to change track or playlist while driving, neraly impossible, and Archos had "hard"buttons, not the ClickWheel of the iPod.

I'm not sure to be able to manage my pod using its own buttons and stay straight on the road ;-)

FYI - I e-mailed Dension Audio Systems the other day to get an update on this device. The response is below:

Hi,

Our MOST integration will be available sometime H1 2005. We will
certainly inform you once it is available.

It can be done, and has been done by a board member who shall remain anonymous.

(It's simply a matter of MOST licensing and figuring out return on investment for prospetive # of units. That's what Denison is doing at the moment)

The next time the anonymous forum member heads over to Germany for a MOST meeting, I'll remind him to try and get a face to face update

BTW, nice shirt.

Hey Lewis, looking for a Sirius, trying to figure out which is best, given any thought to the different devices ?
