I had my dealer put on my skid plate, but I think they charged me for like 5 hrs of labor! Anyhow, they said there was a small difference between the cayenne S skid plate and the TT, probably in the parts kit, so I just bought the TT plate (in parts) and am left with a new in box S skid plate if anyone wants it for a reasonable price. I am being mobilized for the Army Reserve this weekend (again) for another 6 months+, so if you are interested, email me at ericrahman@juno.com

Trying to install skid plate on 05 Cayenne. Can't find the two release levers. Is the 05 any different than 04? A picture of these troublesome levers would be helpful. Any help would be appreciated.

Don't know if 04's and 05's are different, try this pic to see if it helps.

 

My 05 bumper came right off after removed screws.

Did you also find the "lever"? I can't. I've taken off the wheels and fender liner off also.

I see the lever similar to the picture above but it doesn't lock the bumper. I just shake the bumper a little bit then and it slided off.

 

Finally got it off. It helped a bit to remove the headlights to better see the lever.

 

I just wanted to add a couple of things to this thread, it was warm this weekend so I put mine on. I posted some lix to my gallery also.

1 - once all the screws are out a couple of hits with the palm of the hand will release the bumper cover, the lever is not really a locking mechanism.

2 - In order to get the plate to fit correctly you have to open up the holes that the tow hook access covers fit in. Note only cut the sides and top to the recess limits, NOT to the bottom near the edge of the skirt as this is required for the stability of the skirt itself.

Looks like Porsche found out about this loophole. Ordering the parts separately is no longer cheaper than ordering the complete kit. The stainless plate alone (1st item in the list) is now 414.46 according to Sunset. In Europe its even more expensive.
