I think a lot of people misinterpret the tax deduction. Its for vehicles with GROSS wieght over 6000 lbs. The cayenne does not weigh 6000 lbs, however its gross wieght, aka the total axel load, is over 6000 lbs. there are MANY other vehicles that qualify for the deduction.

Not really true, the 6400 gvw has to be certified. Not many can in this sized vehicle. Many larger more utility based vehicles can with ease.

The Cayenne qualifies, its vehicle weight plus passengers plus luggage, recommended by the manufacturer.

All of the Cayenne's primary competitors qualify as well: BMW X5, MB ML and G, Range Rover, VW Touareg.

Once you have a vehicle that can perform like that, you will see that for some of us, everyday driving DOES require 0-60 in 5 or less.

HAHA this is fun. AeroGT is trouble maker in Cayenen forum LOL. Good job dood.

Hey if a guy owns a GT3 and he tracks for fun, hobby whatevers, couldnt of he just got a used Miata for lets say $4K and put another $2 or $3K into it and make a nice little track beater which would be loads of fun? Right? That would save you, well ummm how about $100K. Man sounds like you got robbed eh?

My motto: To each their own kid. If u got it, get it, you live once and this is America land of whatever the **** you want to do with your cash.

i want it because it's the best/most fun SUV out there on the market. however, if i don't have a P-sport car in the garage i wouldn't think about Cayenne. since i have a GT3 for the weekend i figured a Cayenne Turbo will complete the package.

to me, i'd rather pay 100k to get a SUV rather than a regular sedan like S55 or E55.

that tax deduction is crap! it's really annoying that they ever put it into law. all it's doing is driving up gas prices by putting more big gas-guzzling SUVs on the streets while most of the owners never use them for any purpose that would require such a huge vehicle. sure, some do, but the overwhelming majority don't. sorry, it's a really annoying law! it helps a lot of people that don't need help. <rant over>

interestingly enough, did you know that vehicles over 6000 lbs gvwr are not allowed on residential streets in california? of course it's never enforced, but it is the law, designed to protect streets from heavy vehicles that do much more damage than lighter ones.

for the record, i have a gas-guzzling SUV too (nissan xterra), but i actually needed something like this for hauling large things. i use it for something at least once a week that i need an SUV for.

The deduction was implemented a long time ago for businesses...farmers, plumbers, etc...to buy pick-ups, vans, etc. for business use. This was long before vehicles with GVWRs of over 6,000lbs were used as passenger cars. I agree...it's a loophole that needs to be closed; the American public does not need incentives to buy large SUVS.

Your statement regarding vehicles with a GVWR of over 6000lbs. not being allowed on city streets in CA is not entirely correct. Here is Los Angeles's code:

http://lacodes.lacity.org/NXT/gateway.dll/lamc/code00000.htm/chapter00008.htm?fn=document-frameset.htm$f=templates$3.0#LPTOC9.3

Note that it is only illegal when signs are posted, and there is an exception for passenger vehicles.

That law is absolutely ridiculous. There is no reason to give tax breaks for purschasing gas eating monstrocities.

I guess you would not be interested in the Sportec SP600 then. It is a 600 HP version of the Cayenne TT. I believe there may be one going into Canada soon

I most definately do not. Unless the 600hp makes it more tow-worthy or off road capable
But if that 600hp is intended for performance, they should get a PERFORMANCE CAR.
