Default Camshaft marks missing

Hello folks,

I’ve decided to check the timing on my 957turbo. It’s been running a bit lumpy and also wanted to learn a bit more about the car and do a few other bits whilst I was there- vacuum pump, water pump, oil cooler o-rings, valve covers seals etc.

i have a timing kit arriving soon but in taking the valve covers off and spinning the engine I noticed the cam shafts don’t have the markings/spots I was expecting to see as per many you tube videos. I have positioned cyl.1 in TDC and the locator pin lined right up which is encouraging. I then locked the crank with a drill bit in the locator hole. I can clearly see where the timing kit will sit and looks to be good(will double kit when kit arrives).

The only marking I can see is one yellow spot on one of the shafts but no other markings to be seen on the other three.

Does anyone had similar experience with this?

Hi folks,
my timing kit is due to turn up in the next couple of days and wondered if the collective had any experience on this they could share?
