How to buy, what is good deal?
my first post...
I plan to take the plunge and become Porsche owner with Cayenne S. I spent past few days getting aquainted with options available and figuring out how to equip the car. Now, I'm ready to figure out how to buy the car and I could use plenty of advice.
Some questions I'd like to figure out answers are:
*Buy from the local dealer or from elsewhere?
*Buy 04 or 05?
*MSRP or not
And finally
*What would constitute a "good deal" (for instance I saw a post saying $1500 over invoice for built to order car, 12/04 delivery, is that a good deal)?
I'm willing to wait for optimizing for good deal and right car. Probably into next year delivery date. I'm in Seattle, WA area.
Thanks!

The dealerships here in Washington have not had a stellar reputation for bargaining particularly on built to order vehicles. If there is one on the lot that is built to your specs more or less then you have some bargaining power and could probably get a palatable deal.
I would have to say that $1,500 over invoice is pretty darn good for built to order. If the vehicle you are looking for is not available from the nearby dealerships I would strongly consider searching the net, calling west coast dealerships and some of the larger ones back east to see if they have one that is close to what you want. There have been multiple recs about dealers here on the message board. Michael's in Fresno seems to have alot of fans. FYI most shipping (covered) will run you around $1,300.
Don't worry about servicing the vehicle by purchasing from an outside dealer. Service and sales are completely different.
Good luck!!!
