Yes, everything went very smoothly with the Porsche Travel Club tour. It's expensive, but they set you up for everything and take all the worry out of getting into the great hotels.

My only complaint was the maps weren't very detailed. I was expecting more of a AAA Triptik type guide, and instead they were just large scale maps with the route marked with a highlighter pen. That's inadequate for getting through some of the small towns, or finding the hotels within a city. If you've got the Nav system option, however, that solves that problem nicely.

I highly recommend the Euro Delivery experience!

Thanks for the quick answer! Sorry, another question. On the Alps tour, did you return the Cayenne to factory, or did you drop it off at the end of a one way tour? Any probs on getting the Cayenne at the US dealership? I read an alarming report on someone picking up their 996 C4S through European delivery and when picking it up in the US, there was an additional 130 miles on the car. I guess I would be a bit concerned about not dropping it at the factory and having someone "joyride" it back to the factory from the drop off location.

Right, we returned the car to the factory in Leipzig. I think we could have also taken it to Stuttgart for no extra charge, but if you drop it off somewhere else in Europe there can be a BIG extra charge -- like about $1200 if you drop it off in Spain! In any event, you'll usually get a better deal on airfare if you return from the same airport you flew into, so I think you save on several levels.

Extra mileage from the time we dropped it off at the factory to when we picked it up at the dealer in VA was only about 14 miles, which seems about right for checkout at the factory, getting on/off the boat, going through Customs and another PDI in Baltimore, and the dealer sending it offsite for the VA safety inspection.

Thanks again for the response. Okay, Euro delivery it is! Hmm, Stuttgart to Stuttgart with the Alps thrown in in a 997S...can it get any better?

Great, you definitely will enjoy it! The only additional advice I'd have with the 997S is to pack light. If you will be accompanied by a spouse/GF, you'll have a much easier time carrying all the luggage with a Cayenne!

As a C-TT owner don't I know it...But, the 997 will fulfill a lifelong dream of mine...especially on some twisty Alpine roads...

Thanks again
