Default Gemballa Air Suspension Module

I noticed that the air suspension module in the back of my 04 CTT has a Gemballa sticker on it. I know they sold seperate lowering modules for these cars but I can't see one of those, and the height of my car looks normal. The only thing that leads me to believe this module may be doing something is that the ride comfort of the car has never been great, it feels quite firm and harsh even in comfort mode.

I'm interested to know if anyone has any idea what this Gemballa module would be doing, and what impact it would have on the car. When I bought the car it had 22" wheels and low profile tyres. I've since installed factory 18" wheels with 265/60 all terrain tyres, but I'm thinking maybe it had something to do with setting up the air suspension to work with larger wheels?

I had a Techart module in my 2006 back in 2009. It needed to be coded for the module to work, or the car stayed at the stock height. I took it to the dealer for coding and they couldn't (or wouldn't) get it done, so I ended up at FVD's Florida shop, who coded it perfectly.

So short answer guess is that it might not have been coded.....

I worked out that mine is actually a TechArt one, but the sticker on it says Gemballa which is weird. The module shows as 'TECHART' when plugged into a scan tool though.

As someone who has had one, can you speak to the differeance it made to ride comfort, if any?

I am looking for the best ride quality, and am happy to sacrifice some aesthetics and handling to acheive this.

The ride quality was the same, if not a bit more stiff, especially when lowered. Generally speaking, unless you're replacing worn shocks/struts, you don't get better ride quality when lowering a car.

Great, thanks for confirming. Yeah, I suspected it would be more stiff as generally lower = firmer. I'm going to try and get a factory air suspension module then sell the TechArt one as I'm only interested in comfort for this car, not aesthetics.

I have the TechArt one as well, installed it 10 years ago. Mine was plug-n-play from the person I bought it from, worked perfectly. I use 21's majority of the time and leave it in Low height with Sport mode engaged. I also have ECS spaces on the front/rear axles to push the wheels out a bit. No issues with the module at all. With 18's your ride should be nowhere as harsh as 21/22's in Comfort mode. I also tried lowering the ride height with a Durametic but even lowering it 1mm made it way too harsh, so I left it at the default TechArt settings.

The look is fantastic, I hate the stock ride height with the factory module, absolutely too much gap between the tires and the body.

What ride height are you set at? There are a couple of factory modules on eBay right now that are reasonably priced. The TechArt one can be resold easily, I paid $800 for mine a long time ago but getting $4-500 should be a good deal for someone who wants the lower/agressive look.
