Default CarPlay From China Advise

Does anyone have any feedback from the currently available CarPlay units from China? They are at a fraction of the Porsche price and trying to get sounds and phone working in my wonderful 2009 Cayenne GTS.
Thank you.

I love mine. A coworker thought I must have been living under a rock, but I only recently discovered podcasts.
Listen during my 50 minute commute most days now.
Also seamlessly integrated into my iTunes and my cell for phone calls, or google maps if I start off searching for an address on my phone and plug in.
Oh and zoom calls on my way to work also. I'll leave for work on zoom on my phone and then plug in for much improved sound and less distractions fumbling for the side volume buttons when someone talks too loud or is otherwise annoying.

(Above pic of screen is in color inversion mode which I find easier to see on sunny days.)

Thank you for your feedback.

What exact model and make is this unit? I have seen one similar from AliExpress, made by ZWNAV. Here's a picture of it attached.

Is this the one?

This is the model I went with, but last time I checked they were sold out.

Erisin ES8197S 7" Android 10.0 Car Stereo for Porsche Cayenne DSP CarPlay & Auto GPS TPMS DAB+ 4G $248.61

You might want to look for a unit with an IPS display. Other than that, there's no real benefit IMO to faster processors, more memory or a newer OS.
Couldn't hurt though I guess. But the one I bought may be unique in that it comes with a hardware code plug built in at the back, so the install was close to plug and play.

I finally broke down and ordered a PCCM+ this week, so my Dynavin N7 is going to be up for sale. PM me if you're interested in it.

Read this thread. More info here than you can possible ingest.

I personally bought the Erisin recently. Installed it with backup cam. VERY pleased! It really modernizes the driving experience in my 981, something necessary as I plan to take it on a 6 day 2k mile drive this summer.

Hello,

How much are you thinking to sell your Dynavin N7 system?

What year is your Cayenne, mine is a 2009? Does your system have rear cameras etc.?

Please let me know, thank you.

I was thinking $350 - $400. My Cayenne is a 2004. I think it's compatible with a 2009 but sent a question to Jeff at Dynavin North America to confirm. I do have an aftermarket backup camera.

Thank you so much for your prompt response.

I tried looking up the Dynavin 7 but mostly found the 8 or 9. Were you happy with your system? I was about to order a console from China but hesitating for lack of any real recommendations.

Please keep me posted with what Jeff at Dynavin says about compatibility with my 2009.

Thank you again and talk soon.

I've been happy with mine. I bought it before the PCCM+ came out and am in a "keep it OEM" mood at the moment

I just heard back from Jeff, and he said that they are compatible with the 2009 - 2010 cars as well. I have the original box with all of the harnesses, manuals, etc.

The N7 has been out of production for a year or two now. It looks much more OEM than the N8 and N9 models. Also better components (20-bit Burr-Brown DACs, for example).

Hello again, I have been away for a spell.

Is your Dynavin 7 Pro still available and confirming it does come with the fiber optic adapter?

If so, please let me know and we can arrange payment, etc.

Thank you.

No worries. Yes, still available and it does come with the fiber optic adapter. I just received my PCCM+ and should have time to install it this weekend. I'll send you a PM so we can sort out payment and shipping.

Perfect, I'll take it. If you have any other accessories for sale, such as cameras, please let me know.

Good luck with the install of your new PCCM+

Here's my cell #310.733.8183 to best arrange payment, etc.

Thank you again.

Hi Steve, how is the brightness at night? I have seen some low budget screen radios from best buy in cars at night and they seem to glow pretty bright in the cabin. Is this an issue on this head unit? Also, this looks very tightly contoured to the shape of the porsche radio which makes it look factory. I have been looking at this for a couple weeks now.

In the settings, you can have the screen automatically dim when you turn on the headlights, or you can set a time of day window.
You can always manually just hit the sun/moon button (shown in picture on the right side under the eject button).
Or if you touch the upper part of the screen you can access a brightness slider.
The picture above looks glowy because my iPhone's brightness was set a bit too high.
The daytime visibility on sunny summer days is the bigger issue. I would go with an IPS display if I could do it over.

Yeah the tight contour is a perfect fit. Screw holes are in the right spot too. Big plus if you can find one like that.
