Secondary air pump
I did an autopsy of the second pump and at first I thought the caulk being out of place was the problem.
I think it probably just shifted as I took it apart though.
So my check valve is stuck open which explains why the insides of that thing look so gross. At first I thought the seller sent me a used pump.
I did get a refund, but now I know what's going on. When I replaced the pump I'm glad this time I checked it on the car before connecting the hose.
Sounds like a vacuum cleaner. Anyway, it didn't take too long for my brain to realize the loud exhaust sound from the disconnected hose was not correct.
So I ordered a used check valve for $17 and a new gasket just in case I'm not able to clean / clear out the old one.
My question is, what's the best way to remove the check valve?
I see a guy on youtube goes from underneath, but I read the post about the Wera mini-ratchet. So can you undo it from the top with the 1/4 drive ratchet and shallow E10?
Trying to make sure I have the right tools.
Maybe I can use this?

Oh by the way, I undid the hose on the other side to verify that you should not hear exhaust and guess what. Totally chock full o' plastic fins and filter.
I'm guessing it's been like that for a while but I'm curious why I never got a code for the right side. Anyway I'm keeping the hose disconnected and yanked both fuses until I get this all sorted.
I'll be ordering my 3rd pump now. At least the right side check valve is not stuck open.
