Default Unknown Vibration

Hi All,

I have a 2008 Cayenne S with 120k miles on it

Yesterday an intermittent vibration began coming from what feels to be the center of the car. It will stay for a few minutes then disappear for about 20-30 minutes before emerging again. Putting the car in neutral, and switching between gears does not affect the vibration. I did bearing checks on all the wheels, then removed them and hand inspected every bolt I could find around the control arms and CV joints, but the bearings felt fine, and I could not find any loose bolts.

Since it appears to be coming from the center of the car I wonder if it is the transmission mount? Would any one have any advice for how to further investigate this vibration?

Thanks!

Thank you. This looks like a much bigger job, I was hoping it was some other wear part on the drive shaft like the transmission mount. It appears to me that these pieces has been changed by PO due to rounding on the bolts. But they still look fairly worn. Perhaps he used cheap afternarket parts? IT does say KOREA on the Trans mount..

As noted, most likely the center bearing on the drive shaft. Easy and inexpensive to fix. Many have done the jimi fix, some replace the drive shaft assembly, I went with the EPS bearing mount. 60k miles later, no issues

Thank you all for your suggestions. Looked up the jimifix -- will do it over thanksgiving.

Have a great holiday everyone
