Default Cam Actuator replacement?

Hi I've got a dodgy or going dodgy cam actuator on bank 1, clicking kicks in at around 1000rpm, slightly rough idle, little bit of hesitation when giving it some beans.
unplug the connector and the above goes away.
So ive added this to the list of things to do, but as the valve cover gasket has to come off to swap, is this critical that its replaced asap, no fault codes, CEL.
As I see a lot of little things like this causing catastrophic engine damage on these forums....
Any advice would be very mich appreciated

Many thanks

I'd recommend doing this asap. I unfortunately have first hand experience that these engines are rather fragile - they do not appreciate the slightest form of neglect in any way. So rather be safe than sorry.
Taking the valve covers off is fairly easy, just this one bolt by the firewall can be a pita without the right tools.

Good luck!
