193.4miles and it was 20.9 gallons, so when I calculate this, its 9.25mpg. I drive both city and highway. This is not good to hear, gas price is increasing.

My Turbo has averaged almost 14MPG for 18,000 miles, including some HARD driving.

I typically get around 10-12 mpg in and around town with a mix of driving modes. 10 mpg is not uncommon.

However, I recently went on a 1500 mile road trip, where my average speed was around 70-75, and got between 15-17(!) mpg.

As they say, ymmv.

Between city/highway(more city) I average at best 10 mpg city/ highway about 18 mpg. Had an mL320 and numbers were not as good too(12 city/18 highway). Suvs are gass guzzlers but then again my 996 averages 12/20 mpg. Regards. Mike

My 1991 toyota landcruiser is averaging 10-11mpg
about the same weight and CC of displacement
not that they are the same or similiar other than being trucks of course.

something to think about anyway

9.5 seems horrid to me. Even towing (on the highway) I get at least 11 mpg. With mixed city/highway, I get in the 14.5 range. With pure highway miles, I get 18-19. Btw, don't trust the "Avg Mpg" computer thing....my experience shows it reads too high. Oh, and one more thing, if your truck is brand new, mpg is typically a lower than normal during the first 1000 miles.

Good gas mileage at high speeds must be final drive ratio.

First 1000 mi, I don't think so. With synthetic breakin oil the rings take longer to seat. You'll get best gas mileage when rings are seated.

Ditto, with that computerized avgmpg. It does more harm than good, gives believers a false sense of security.
